She has always had majority support.
She got a clear majority both times she ran for governor. Nobody Ian Maine since 1966 has done that.
It won't be easy, but she is the only Democrat who CAN beat Susan Collins. Bernie and his puppy Platner can fuck off.

I've been reading some things about some of her right wing positions, her support for Trump's sanctions of Venezuela and the blockades and Navy torpedoing Venezuelan fishing boats.

It's not a slam dunk, but she stands a way better chance than a nobody from nowhere who has never rin for any office in his life and is clearly a DSA op.

Mills is the ONLY Democrat with the chops to take her.

** Mills still lives in Farmington (when not at the Blaine House), a rural town in the mountains, while Collins has a home in Falmouth, the wealthiest town in Maine, and not her native Caribou. Though really her and her lobbyist husband really just live in DC and just visit Maine occasionally.

Her response to these arguments was nonexistent, so they just hung out there, unanswered.
The other mistake was running a campaign on national issues while Collins focused on Maine issues. It just emphasized Gideon's "from away" status. Gideon lost areas that were hers for the taking.

They also cynically use other leftist issues against her, suggesting her husband misused PPP funds (false - he isn't even a managing partner at the firm that took the funds), and emphasizing her status as a millionaire (not mentioning Collins is too).

To your other point, Gideon did not lose solely because she was From Away. GOP PACs leveraged MeToo against her, bringing up a legislator who was accused (and cleared) of inappropriate behavior with a high school student, because she did not call for his resignation immediately.

Mills' family has been a fixture in the Farmington area for generations. They have been there at least three generations.

Their roots in Maine run deeper than Angus King's and he is probably the most popular politician we have had in Maine in decades.

What really blows my mind here in Maine is that the Left watched a man with zero political experience get elected and proceed to royally fuck up this country. Then they decide the best candidate to beat Collins is an oyster farmer with zero political experience.
What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

While I am sick of the leftists disqualifyiung her on age, this does not mean it would be unreasonable for HER, HERSELF to say "you know, I've been doing this a while. I think I'm done." Which I suspect is behind her hesitancy.

I hope Mills does run. In spite of the very online social media commentariat who hate her, she's very popular. Don't like everything she dfoes (not happy about how she treates the Native tribes, for instance), but she's the best bet for beating Collins.

At least people have heard of Maine Ber Co even if not the founder who joined the race.

I think the fact that the established Maine names are running for governor instead of senator is indicative of how unbeatable Maines Democrats think Collins is. So she ges nobodies running aginst her.
