In light of an avalanche of pending federal budget cuts, passing the corporate Fair Share proposal to tax big corporations that seek to “offshore” their profits is so important. @raiseupma.bsky.social @progressivemass.bsky.social @electerika.bsky.social @massteacher.bsky.social

Excellent Town Hall Meeting in Porter Square last night in support of making big corporations pay their fair share in taxes. As State Representative, I’m proud to always be on the forefront of efforts to #TaxTheRich and address today’s unprecedented wealth and income inequality.

My statement on the two-year anniversary of the horrific October 7th attack carried out by Hamas in Israel:
“The October 7th attack carried out by Hamas was horrific and devastating.

“Elders, babies, parents, and loved ones were senselessly murdered.

“251 souls were taken hostage, among them Americans, Israelis, grandparents, toddlers, and peace activists.

“The grief of these losses runs deep in the Massachusetts 7th and around the world. (1/4) “In the two years since the October 7 attack, I have sat beside the family members of hostages and those who lost loved ones that day.

“Their stories have stayed with me daily. Surviving family members have spoken of our shared humanity.

“The hostage families have sparked a movement calling for peace, joined by a multi-generational, multi-racial coalition of people of every faith and every corner of the globe. (2/4) “Today in Gaza, we are witnessing an unspeakable genocide, and we must continue to call for peace.

“Innocent civilians are being denied food, water and medical care.

“Our children will ask what we did in this moment, and the only acceptable answer remains: everything we could to save lives. (3/4) “I remain committed to the safety and survival of everyone impacted by these atrocities.

“I send my deepest condolences to every family who lost a loved one in the violent October 7th attack and to every family who has lost a loved one in the violence perpetrated in Gaza.

“Grief lasts as long as love does. Your loved ones mattered deeply, and they will not be forgotten.” (4/4)

msm won't pick this up, but big WIN for Palestine solidarity in Somerville, MA this morning. @marisakabas.bsky.social

Elections Commission rejects big money play to remove Palestine Solidarity measure from our November ballot. State rep @mikeconnollyma.bsky.social breaks it down.

In this moment where human rights organizations have concluded that Isreal is committing genocide in Palestine, hundreds of Somerville residents took to the streets this summer to gather over 11,000 signatures to put a non-binding advisory question on the November 4, 2025 municipal ballot.

That’s why I’ve urged the Somerville Board of Election Commissioners to overrule the anti-democratic objections to the Palestine Solidarity question and to place the question on the ballot today.

I have long stood for the principle that the freedom to criticize governments must be protected, and that criticism of the Israeli government is not inherently antisemitic.

This morning, I submitted testimony to the Somerville Board of Election Commissioners — asking them to overrule the anti-democratic objections to the Palestine Solidarity ballot question and to proceed with placing the question on the municipal ballot today.
As State Representative, I have long stood for the principle that the freedom to criticize any and all governments must be protected, and that criticism of the Israeli government is not inherently antisemitic, and that all residents should be free to engage in various legitimate political actions that seek to change government policies, both at home and abroad.

In this moment where a broad array of human rights organizations and global leaders have concluded that Isreal is committing genocide in Palestine, hundreds of Somerville residents took to the streets this summer to gather over 11,000 signatures to put a non-binding advisory question on the November 4, 2025 municipal ballot. In so doing, these activists have drawn inspiration from past efforts, such as the movement that worked to end apartheid in South Africa.

Now, a new group, “Somerville United Against Discrimination,” has emerged and is seeking to throw the Palestine Solidarity question off the ballot. None of the arguments in opposition to allowing the question to be placed on the ballot make sense. Somerville for Palestine collected more than enough signatures in accordance with the law, and while voters are free to consider various arguments in support or opposition to the ballot question — it is wrong to claim the ballot question itself is discriminatory. Therefore, I respectfully urge the Board of Election Commissioners to overrule these anti-democratic objections and to place the question on the ballot today.

And correcting the typo above to say it’s a Tiered Corporate Minimum Tax — not tired! Here’s the bill: malegislature.gov/Bills/194/H3...

We should tax John Henry and put the money toward a deeper bench and pitching staff for the Sox. 🤣 The team actually led the league in errors but they also made a lot of spectacular plays this season, too. 🙈

It’s still #TaxTheRich and make big corporations pay their fair share! 💰💰💰

Woke up feeling blue about the Sox game — but then I remembered we have a chance to make big corporations pay more of their fair share of taxes in Massachusetts — and I perked right up!

Proud to speak in favor of closing offshore tax loopholes and my bill to establish a tired corporate minimum tax.
Speaking in support of my bill H.3057 and the corporate fair share bills.

Also: Robert Reich is one of my all time political heroes! I was assigned his memoir of the Clinton White House (“Locked In The Cabinet”) when I was in college; it completely removed my youthful illusions of corporate Democrats and cemented my views as a Leftist. Here I am meeting him 8 years ago.

We believe healthcare is a right for every American.

But starting today, millions of people will be notified that they are being priced out of their insurance thanks to Republican policies.

Enough is enough. The GOP may shut down the government, but we will stand tall for YOU.
