I do not have love for the ISP and they generally seem be...you know...cops.

We should be mad about the real things.

The Priest pictured here has stated that the trooper was acting as his messenger at his request. ICE was not speaking to them, they asked the ISP trooper to deliver the request (to celebrate the Eucharist with those who were detained and wanted it), and here is delivering ICEs response.
mjeffreson.bsky.social
To be clear, following statements from the clergy who were present, the state police were asked by the Eucharistic procession to deliver the request to ICE. The state trooper here is relaying the response that ICE gave him, not providing his own or adjudicating the interaction.

That wasnt the claim from the beginning and it should have been obvious.

I mean with Palantir yeah Thiel might be watching.

Looot of bad ideas in that era, if I recall "The storm before the storm" well enough.

I can already see how SNL is going to do the Mamdani head Bob. His way of puncuating and accenting with neck movements is going to saturate our language like Obama's "look" has become the standard filled pause at the start of a sentence.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

"Um, excuse me Imperator, I should just like you to know i did not very much appreciate being forced to beat my friend to death. When his head collapsed under that rock I was swinging, I have to say it was most unpleasurable. 1/10, I will NOT be returning.
mjeffreson.bsky.social
It meant 1/10 was killed. It was a collective punishment in some Roman Legions, for cowardice or insubordination. The legion would be separated into groups of 10, they would cast lots (i..e draw straws or similar) and the other 9 had to beat the loser to death, or they would all be executed.

A copy pasta horror from reddit:

"My son woke me up saying there was a monster under his bed. I just wanted to go back to sleep, so I got down on my hands and knees. Thats when I saw my son, eyes wide with terror. "Papa", he whispered, "theres something on top of my bed."

Later, on *additional* drugs.

"Be louder" isnt really a choice people can make on a national scale.

One side has political power and media apparatuses, and a specific religious imperative to domination.

The other side doesn't possess or particularly desire those things.

Like I agree with you but the deck is hella stacked.

I bet François has a douchy little belt with energy gels and tiny water bottles and special blister protection socks.

You're running like 6k what are we doing here François.

I am patently against circumcision of infants outside of medical necessity. It should be illegal to modify the body of a child who we all recognize cannot give consent, except in medical necessity.

But not like this. This will just means circumcision without pain management.

Yeah im living in the last days of ORD in the EPA. I will spend my whole life being the prettiest little sbit to anyone who carried this along.

If a Trump voter says a mea culpa I might move it along. But any admin officials are gonna have to START with ashes and sackcloth.

Somewhere waaay down the list of "shit im angry at these fascists for" is the general idea of robbing me of the notion that "things were going to keep getting better".

Maybe not fast enough, maybe not evenly, but as sure as water flows downhill, it was going to.

These fucks.

(Caveat I am enjoying this conversation good-naturedly)

Thats a bit unfair. Its at least "Hebrew Bible (Jesus Remix)"
mjeffreson.bsky.social
Despite many Christian attempts at rewriting the OT, there is no good understanding of Christ's teachings (or Pauls!) outside of the context 2nd Temple Judaism in the Roman Period.

Its a Jewish splinter religion! Everything is downstream of that!
mjeffreson.bsky.social
Preaching to the choir i know, but all those quotes are in the Christian NT.

The apostles call Jesus Rabbi in the Bible, and the several Gospels brag about his knowledge of the scriptures even as a little kid. Half his teachings are "yo follow the law of Moses ya dinks".

No even exempted workers are not getting paid (I am one, exempted workers being those who are exempted from being furloughed during a funding lapse.) And Voughts threat is also against exempted feds.

I anticipate missing my next check. EPA isnt furloughed but my checks come from the Treasury Dept.
mjeffreson.bsky.social
Pretty sure OMBs legal threat is just them retreating from the threat to do massive furloughed RIFs.

Its among the weakest and most absurd claims they've tried to make.

#omb #shutdown #vought #lapse #furlough
mjeffreson.bsky.social
Yeah, but he still didn't shoot non-slaver, non-abolitionists. His use of violence through most of his life was pretty restrained, and he was more than ready to avoid killing slavers in the short term for if he thought it a strategically wise choice in the long term.

Feel free to attribute the following to a former OMB General Counsel: The supposed "new legal analysis" is, to use a technical legal term, horseshit. What the law actually says is that when Congress enacts a law ending a lapse, furloughed employees get paid at the earliest date possible. Period.

Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"

Too scary. There's kids out here, it ain't one of those extreme haunted houses.
