That was an acting tour de force by Ethan Hawke. Truly Oscar caliber. This film may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I loved it.

Now seated in theater 7 at Regal Columbus 12, Virginia Beach Town Center, for the 1:05 showing of Blue Moon. Sounds like my kind of thing. We'll see. Catch y'all later.

You're welcome, as always!
Another gem from Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke. Not for people who need car chases and explosions and can't sit still for a dialogue based film, but the script is great and Hawke has one-on-one scenes with each of the major supporting characters are gold. Both sad and funny! Great songs.
I liked the Springsteen movie, but not nearly as much as I loved the Dylan picture last year. It's about a period of depression when he was creating the Nebraska album.

I went out to Virginia Beach today and saw Blue Moon. Man, I absolutely loved that one. Magnificent performance from Ethan Hawke.
Oh, cool. I think you'll like Weapons. 👍

Blue Moon is a Sony Classics picture, so it will end up on Netflix. There's another limited release film playing at the Regal I want to see called The Mastermind. Maybe I'll make it out next week.
Saw it this afternoon. Oh, man, what a performance from Ethan Hawke! I loved this movie. I don't know if a film like this can get a Best Picture nomination, but it's hard to imagine a better lead performance. The one-on-ones with each of the excellent major supporting actors were gold.
But there are good performances from Qualley (of course), Andrew Scott as Richard Rodgers, Patrick Kennedy as E.B. White and Bobby Cannavale as the bartender.
...and depression. He's just seen his former partner's success with a new writing partner and is there waiting for the afterparty. Even though he's gay, Hart has a romantic obsession with his young protégé (Margaret Qualley). The whole thing is basically Hawke acting his butt off. ⬇️
I've heard of that. I need to remember to give it a try one of these days.

Blue Moon is about a specific night in the life of lyricist Lorenz Hart (of Rodgers & Hart). It's set in Sardi's the night that Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" opened on Broadway. Hart is struggling with alcoholism...⬇️

Oh, wow. The talk in the park sounds pretty cool. I hope you enjoy the film!
I heard something in passing about the Dubai comedy thing, but didn't pay enough attention to know who was there. I loved Keanu in the movie. Sometimes he really kind of channeled Ted. 😂
They had a 2 p.m. preview of the Springsteen movie this afternoon, so I figured I'd go ahead and see it. Glad I did. I didn't love it like I did the Dylan movie last year, but I liked it a lot.

I liked the Springsteen picture. It focuses on a very specific dark time in his life as he was creating the Nebraska album. Jeremy Allen White was really good as Bruce.

The Day the Earth Stood Still is my all-time favorite science fiction movie (along with Close Encounters of the Third Kind).
Yeah, I know you're not much for biopics. Although it's kind of not a biopic exactly. I think you'll enjoy Good Fortune well enough. It's funny, but has a lot to say about capitalism and the gig economy. And there's more Keanu than you might expect from the trailers.
I really liked the Springsteen film. It's not really a biopic, per se. It focuses on a very specific dark time in his life where he was battling depression and the demons of his childhood while working on the Nebraska album (and simultaneously the songs that would form Born in the USA).

That was good. Bruce went through some dark times there. Well acted. Jeremy Allan White was excellent.

Now seated in theater 7 at Cinemark awaiting the 2 p.m. showing of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. Not expecting it to be at the level of A Complete Unknown from last year, but the reviews have been pretty good. And I love Bruce. Catch y'all later
