It was a tough Election Day for the MAGA mindset. NYC mayor, Virginia governor and New Jersey governor all went to Democrats. Prop 50 passes in California. Maine voters rejected proposed voting restrictions but passed red flag gun restrictions. It’s a good day for reflection on people power.
How do courts hold him accountable? If not him, who is to be held accountable?
Does she even hear herself? She is spouting GOP perspectives not Dem perspectives on race and immigration. This is almost comical - if it weren’t so earth-shatteringly nonsensical.
If blue states are making additional funding available, are red states doing the same for their residents? Or would that be considered disloyal to the GOP strategy to use hunger as a weapon?

CNN Speaker Johnson I don’t know montage
It has been suggested to me that I tone down my political opinions. This message was conveyed to me by a friend via my husband. Even though he knew better, my husband delivered the message as promised. I don’t fault the messenger. As my Bsky friends can see, message not received!

it's time for journos to start asking Johnson meta questions

"Speaker, on 5 occasions last week you said 'I haven't seen it' when asked about news events w/big implications for public policy. Do you ever read the news, and do you agree it's problematic for the Speaker to be so woefully uninformed?"
Tomorrow you get to use your powerful voice. Make a plan today to get out and vote. Check the weather so that it will not impact your ability to cast your ballot. Need a ride to the polls? Call a friend today to ask for a lift tomorrow. Vote for the town, city, county, state and country you want.

People keep equating millionaires with billionaires. Let’s be clear: a billion is a thousand million. A millionaire can buy the best TV. A billionaire can buy the company that makes it. A millionaire can pick up the dinner tab. A billionaire can feed a nation — or choose not to.
I loathe hearing the voices of both of these people but this deserves to be heard and shared.
Just incase you wondering who's at fault for the shutdown. Take from the man who knows it all.
Everyone has the power to make the world a better place for one other person today. Hold a door, let someone merge in front of you, drop a tip in the tip jar, smile or greet as you pass on the street. Love>Hate.
I made a donation to a food bank. I’m not here to pat myself on the back but to remind you that you have power. Resistance is not always a fight or a push. Sometimes it is an offer of help in opposition to the abuse leveled by the powerful. Let’s end the week with a powerful message of hope & help.

Sigh. We are in the hands of a baby ball of ego.
Are they really not paying air traffic controllers, getting ready to starve those who utilize SNAP benefits and furloughing thousands of dedicated Federal workers all because they don’t want to. Release. The. Epstein. Files?

lol what the wealthy today don't seem to understand is part of staying wealthy in society is not pissing off the masses.

There's a reason why Carnegie and the Rockefellers poured money into institutions. Gutting institutions and making it harder for the masses to survive is a...choice.
Until the courts take this seriously, we will continue to have people like this ignore their rulings. Time to teach everyone to play by the rules.
Just a message from those in the know. Your dollar will go much further if you made a $ donation to a food bank than if you donate actual food products. Save yourself the time and the trouble of shopping and dropping. Just go to their website and make a donation.

“the U.S.’s gross national debt surpassed $38 trillion Wednesday, a record number … also the fastest accumulation of a trillion dollars in debt outside of the COVID-19 pandemic”

Maybe instead of giving Trump $300M for a ballroom, billionaires can just pay more taxes.
