I got the Collins Guide 2nd ed, the Susan Myers Bird Names book that I only have in a .pdf, and three guides to Caribbean birds that more or less give me complete bird coverage of the western hemisphere.

I just bought $160 worth of nature books for $60 including shipping.

I didn't need them. But I got them anyway.

The new edition of the Collins guide to Europe is in here, by the way.

Annual reminder of the best sale in bird books! Not many new titles since last year but there’s a few I’m excited to finally get.

Not to spoil this week's Take it or Leave it episode of the American Birding Podcast, but we manage references to The Simpsons, Futurama, Arrested Development, AND Back to the Future in there.

I referee a lot of High School soccer games and this has always been very common, especially on narrow fields. Every team always seems to have one kid who can bomb it. I'm surprised it took so long for the pros to catch on.

My back hurts just thinking about how long those things are.

I think they like to film these things in British Columbia, so maybe that's the explanation.

I am generally optimistic because of the way birding is presented in the source book, but the absolutely spotless outdoor clothes and the bizarro army surplus style binoculars are concerning.

Can some internet wizard recreate this with RB Nut beeps?

A shame to take the setting away from southern Arizona, but Hallmark probably tries to make these things relatively inexpensively.

So against my better judgment I'll probably watch this. I worry, though.

Just talked to Owen this morning for a future podcast ep. The film is a lot of fun and his bird videography is honestly spectacular.

Yeah, the murder of Emmett Till is important not just because of the murder, but the fact that his murderers were *acquitted*.

He sent his own daughter to an Ivy League school.

Maybe re-read what I wrote.

The quality of referees is better than it’s ever been but supporters won’t admit because they like having someone to blame their team’s poor performance on.

Yeah, looks pretty good for Yellow-bellied!

Maybe they get lucky and get a fortunate draw to make the QFs, but the odds are strongly against even that.

You didn’t say a thing about the Democratic lawmakers that were murdered in Minnesota this June but you’re eulogizing a racist podcaster.

Meanwhile Ben Shapiro is over here seriously considering whether political martyrdom is the best move for his career.

Does the average American who isn’t terminally online even know who Charlie Kirk is? I’m pretty politically aware and I’ve always thought of him as a fairly niche figure.
