Of course, I still have my grievances about the arc (that goes for every Trails arc really)

But getting into mecha unironically made me love it despite it all

Funnily enough, Cold Steel is what got me into mecha in the first place, along with Gundam Witch from Mercury

Then I took a look back at CS once I was a bit deeper in the mecha hole and thought "holy shit this is awesome I love giant robots"

I was once quite a bit more cynical about the Cold Steel arc but I've learned to love it a lot more once I got into mecha and found that Cold Steel's pretty much a love letter to the mecha genre and various works within it like Gundam

Falcom LOVES mecha, and they're honestly so real for that

EXACTLY, just them throwing down with martial arts staffs would be the coolest shit ever, maybe throw in some of the wackier stuff like Estelle's arts and Leia's extending staff but nothing beyond that

On that note, I love how Karja shuts that notion down immediately without any of the usual embarrassment you'd expect from similar situations in different works. Kinda like how Setsuna and Marina in Gundam 00 immediately deadpanned "No." when Mileina asked them if they were in a relationship
