Per Sports Illustrated, Calhoun was selected to shoot because a Bulls employee felt his “suede hiking boots wouldn’t scuff the court."

Dee Brown’s leading bounce pass to a cutting Larry Bird that Magic Johnson couldn’t get to & Robert Parish instinctively cutting to the front of the rim then Larry hitting him in the hands with a pass high enough to go over the head of Vlade Divac & Robert Parish’s hands.

A few more details from the "excessive floor wax" exhibition game, October 11, 1984:

Yeah it’s a fun story, especially knowing no one was seriously injured (but they were trying to avoid a recent incident in which Walter Davis got hurt on a slick floor). I’ll post a few more details in a bit.

Trading for Dave Cowens was an incredibly polarizing move at the time as the Bcuks tried to get over the hump during the 80s. The irony is that the Bucks swept the Celtics during the '83 Playoffs, but Cowens had gotten hurt during the last game of the season.

The Lakers & Celtics also played the following night in Boston and the Celtics won, 118-104. Then the two teams played a third preseason game a week and a half later in Los Angeles. Magic & Bird played in those games as well. So they had two more meetings in the preseason.
