I drive the city, downtown, around ICE, NE, SE and wherever. No fires. Business downtown is safe and coming back. We have a homeless problem, being addressed if too slowly. But we don't need troops for that - or anything else. Trump's fire and war-torn description is a lie. Wyden is right on.

Fox News has lied about violence in Portland since the actual riots of 2020. MAGA and many others are now primed to believe Trump lies that the city is a war zone. He wants violence here to justify sending in troops, to repeat that in other cities, and advance his dictatorial agenda. Pls. repost.

I and the city are fine. Trump is lying or delusional in saying the city is on fire. Protester arrests were a couple a week after an early-June protester/ICE dustup; one a day-plus after Trump called for the NG. He wants to inflame a situation local police can handle just fine, thank you.

This is a great novel and so is Blending In and Killer Politics. I like all three, but Blending In is my favorite. January 6 is especially relevant under the current circumstances.

I live in Portland. Trump saying protesters have "burned the place down" and Vance saying they are "committing acts of political terrorism" is flat wrong. Protesters at ICE HQ have largely been peaceful since June. Trump simply wants to impose more martial law, domestic terrorism. Please repost.

Every single one of these clips was taken today in downtown Portland. Portland doesn’t want or need a federal takeover. If Trump insists on sending federal “resources” he can start with funding health care, bridges, affordable housing, and wildfire protection to name a few.
