The first book of my #isekai series Memes of the Prophets is available on Amazon, DriveThruFiction, and Lulu. It mixes commentary on Big Ideas, fantasy worldbuilding, and comedy into a strange tale of a catgirl trying to find her way in an Earth-obsessed world.

Also apparently the spirit of debate is alive and well (?) in the men's room of The Old Clam House.

I finally picked my 3D printer up from the repair place, and I took the opportunity to have lunch at The Old Clam House nearby, which was charming and weird. The waiter brought a cup of clam broth unprompted, and they have semi fish-shaped forks. I just had soup and salad, but that was very good.

I hadn't heard of the Razer Kitsune before, but it looks like it's pretty much a Razer implementation of the standard stickless fightpad, so there are already many similar controllers, many of which use the customizable open source GP2040-CE firmware.

I’m a bit tempted to try my hand at making fight sticks out of random objects. I’m pretty sure I know how to do the wiring and firmware, but less sure how to go about drilling holes.

He looks like if you looked up his age you’d see some kind of ancient runes.

Arguably too much so! And if I ever truly finish it, Hades II is gonna be waiting in the wings.
nekoewen.bsky.social
Oh hey, I recently started playing Hades too. Now I have to take a break because I played enough to aggravate my tendinitis.

So many companies are profitable essentially by using monopolization to extract money from partners and employees while making things worse for customers, all while using loopholes to not treat employees like employees. It's infuriating and needs to be stopped.

I'm already about a third of the way through reading Cory Doctrorow's "Enshittification" and I'm about ready to start dropping the subscription software I've been using.

I laughed a lot seeing it in a theater, and while I’d already seen it when I watched on YouTube, it nonetheless didn’t hit nearly as hard.

(Department of War) Friend only to The Undertaker
Oh, the department of war it's an enemy to all mankind
The thought of the department of war blows my mind
Department of War has caused unrest
Within the younger generation
Induction then destruction
Who wants to die? Oh
nekoewen.bsky.social
The Department of War, I despise
'Cause it means destruction of innocent lives
War means tears to thousands of mothers' eyes
When their sons go out to fight and lose their lives
nekoewen.bsky.social
The Department of War Huh! Good god y’all! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

I feel like either I'm missing something or he doesn't understand that TTRPGs don't have to be like 300+ pages long.

Because algorithms are both secretive and can determine your fortunes, some people develop folk beliefs about them. AirBNB hosts have a bunch of theories about what will get them good placement.

I started reading Filterworld, a book about the effects of algorithms on culture, which is both interesting and disturbing. The author noticed a worldwide trend of cafes with amber Edison bulbs, seemingly shaped by what plays well on Instagram.

Along with everything else, I've developed a particular irritation for how Jordan Peterson pronounces "God" with at least two syllables, like "Goh-awwed," in his S*icidal Kermit voice.

Tiny e-ink tablet (Boox Go 6) with tiny mechanical keyboard (QAZ).
nekoewen.bsky.social
I went looking for useful apps to add to my Android e-reader for writing stuff, and came to the conclusion that most of the specialty tools for writing are irrelevant to my process. I just alternate between typing stuff and scribbling ideas in notebooks, and eventually a novel happens.

I have an idea for a superhero-themed video game that's kind of a mashup of Hades and Shantae, a roguelike metroidvania where you play Xero as he traverses the multiverse, able to temporarily copy the powers of those around him.

A nice thing about an e-reader not from Amazon is that I can do things like customize the screensaver, hence it now shows Memes of the Prophets art.
A little Boox Go 6 e-reader sits on a small stand, and displays an image of Alyssa, a half-elf summoner, doing her "Alyssa Face" where she looks, let's say "chagrinned."

Kamen Rider Zeztz, the new series currently running, is amazing so far. The protagonist is fighting nightmares in dream worlds, and the result is Kamen Rider with a dollop of David Lynch. www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2w1...

I'm liking it so far. Android apps are a little slow and definitely need you to change the e-ink quality settings according to what you're doing, but the native reader is really responsive. Compared to the Kindles I've used it's as good if not better overall.
nekoewen.bsky.social
The Boox Go 6 e-reader is basically an e-ink Android tablet, so I’m trying it out for portable distraction-free writing. (I said while on my phone posting about it and thus not writing.)

Some people truly don’t understand the concept of not demonizing Muslims, or how it’s not the same thing as swearing fealty to Muhammad.

Adaptation makes me hope that someone gave Charlie Kaufman a much-needed hug.
