They who would not sacrifice their own souls to save the whole world, are, as it seems to me, illogical in all their inferences, collectively. - CS Peirce

Elders need to act like elders
OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.
Me too.

What scares me most is how security states are reacting to the concept.
The theory events since 2016 have driven me to is that authoritarianism is agentified dieback. Fascists are the leaders of doomed populations in overshoot.

When things are in balance, natural democracy -> anarcho-socialism -> bonobism emerges.
With no sense of irony President Trump says, "We're got a lot of
stupid people in this country running things"

This.

Or how one of the best selling books of IIRC 1912 was Norman Angell’s book that explained in great detail and - as it turned out - accurately that a major war in Europe would be ruinously expensive *even for the victors.*

(He didn’t claim war would be impossible, as is sometimes claimed.)
I think I discounted just how unprofitable and stupid war already was in 1939.
Autists also call it what it is - probably the reason the anti-president is targeting them (by attacking science, where high-func. autists reign).

Another idea: the post-war Ukrainian navy needs new ships. Why not give them, say, an air defence missile frigate for training in the Baltic?
.. although the Gutenberg-via-Burroughs-via-Lovecraft printing press we currently have is an interesting phase.

Spoiler (what i'm currently working on):

AI means we get the full Gutenberg + @timbernerslee.bsky.social printing press in the next phase.

SirTimBL's new book:

"Like a letter from Johannes Gutenberg about what he hoped the printing press could be" ..

the Navier-Stokes equations both generally had smooth solutions and described social dynamics *as the cure for cancer*

Both Sebald and Borges saw her in Vejer de la Frontera, wearing the black Mantua silk from Norwich as a cobijada.

They would never forget her.

'Some authors have argued that he was the serial killer known as Jack the Ripper, or that he was otherwise involved in the murders, but contemporaneous documents show that Albert Victor could not have been in London at the time of the murders, and the claim is widely dismissed.'

Wow, there it is - Max's mourning dress for "our history, but a long account of calamities" (in the closing paragraph of Rings of Saturn).

In turn, i looked up pandemic victim Prince Albert Victor:
Yes, a prank from a cross between Borges and Pagliacci:

'drape black mourning ribbons over mirrors and canvasses depicting landscapes or people, so that the soul would not be distracted on its final journey, either by a reflection of itself or by a last glimpse of the land now being lost forever'
'a breathtaking gown of black Mantua silk, a length of sixty paces, which the Norwich silk weavers Willett & Nephew created uniquely for this occasion, in order to demonstrate their unsurpassed skills in the manufacture of mourning silks'

.. that's some commitment to Max's tricks!
