Even if nothing much happens around Greenland, the Europeans will still be directly confronted by US destabilisation of the Western Hemisphere when it affects 3 million people living in islands and territories around the Caribbean that are under the oversight of the UK and EU states
Wow, it seems the Northern Atlantic Ocean is bigly important for US and European security (Greenland!).
Here’s an unorthodox idea: Why don’t we set up a Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization binding together the democracies of the western hemisphere?
Sounds crazy, I know.

NATO is now a bit longer lived than the Delian League if memory serves.

The longest multi-member alliance in recorded history.
The Delian League was the dominant military alliance until Athens started acting like a dick and destroyed it.

Then Athens lost The Peloponnesian Wars and never recovered

Reminding this to our American allies for no particular reason as we watch their mad king threaten exclusively America's allies

I remember reading one history of NATO around when it became the longest living multi-member alliance in recorded history, and thinking about a paper I read years ago. It suggested the age of organizations is the best predictor of their demise too.
NATO countries deploying forces to deter and if necessary defend against aggression from the United States seems like a watershed moment. A line that can't be uncrossed.

The Western alliance had a good run. Maybe a version can be reconstituted some day.

There was a story of a Soviet local boss who won his first Order of Lenin in the 30s, for leading a highway construction project that finished on schedule and below budget.

And his second during the war for a clever ruse after a Nazi panzer unit tried to use the highway. Which was just mud.
"Show them we’re just as good as our grandfathers!" - on the Kupiansk front, the Russian army’s "alcohol paratroopers," armed with "cutting-edge technology," are stubbornly mastering the local swamps.

OK. Green smoke. Coloured smoke grenades have existed for decades. They are for signalling purposes. They are not meant for riot control purposes. As with any smoke, they are irritating, but they are not meant for that purpose, so use as "riot control" agents is an off-label usage.

Well. My 12 years as an officer in the US Army Chemical Corps, my 6 years as CBRN advisor in the White House, my 6 years in the US Secret Service in chemical/biological countermeasures, my vast record of published work, and all of the books on, erm, what's actually in smoke grenades. For a start.
On what are you basing your assertions that the US government is using a harmless coloring agent rather than the toxic gas deployed previously?

Finland will participate in the Operation Arctic Endurance exercise alongside NATO allies, and will send two liaison officers to Greenland shortly.

Sending a larger force will require a separate decision at a later date, Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen said today:

Textbook counterinsurgency recommends about 1 soldier for every 20 residents to pacify and control a city.

Minneapolis has about 430k people. Add St. Paul and the metro area, it's millions.

2000 ICE officers all in Minneapolis makes for a ratio of 1 to 215. Enough to harm, not enough to control.
