Unjust society is unsustainable -> democracy is non-negotiable.

Sustainability transition & modeling circular economy @ Finnish Environmental Institute (Syke) as a profession; defence of Finland and democracy as a hobby.
The thin white lines in the map above are OSM's "unclassified" roads. The yellow dotted and dash-dotted lines are drawn 50 and 100 km from the Russian border.

Compare to a map without those roads: the Finnish road network is still very dense compared to the other side of the border, but...

For years I've been harping about the problem #Finland 's logging roads cause for #defence. They make the forests too permeable.

The problem is insufficiently understood, perhaps because large-scale maps won't show their extent.

So I've built my own, from OpenStreetMap & OpenTopoMap data. Behold!

I recently learned the Black Panthers never went away! They have been feeding people and protecting the disadvantaged of all colors.

When the regular US gun nuts seem to have forgotten to rise up against tyrannical government, I guess it’s better that some decent enough people are armed at least.

I guess more U.S. states going to suddenly make an U-turn in gun control.

The Black Panthers are out protecting the protestors. It remains to be seen if their presence achieves what innumerable school shootings didn’t. /s

It did in California once.

(Full support and all power to the people.)

Re the problem of defending #Finland: here's my approximate estimate of most potential entry points to Finland and #Norway from #Russia, by distance from the nearest Russian railhead.

QGIS is a remarkable tool!

Accurate.

The history does not expect you to win. It expects you to fight.

Do not go gentle to that good night.

Good. Hopefully everyone, every politician at least, will follow.

But it is sad that almost all European politicians have so far been happy to be content producers - useful idiots - for a misinformation network owned and actively controlled by an avowed enemy of #Europe.

They all are being used.

Ja mun kaksista numeroa lukuun ottamatta identtisen näköisistä sotaväen nahkasaappaista juuri ne, jotka ostin talvisaappaiksi eli ylimääräisiä sukkapareja varten, on tietysti ihan perkeleen liukkaat pakkasella.

Ja ahtaammat on ok.

Tietysti.

(Of course, the downside is that someone who is not comically inept may be taking notes… or waiting in the wings.

Fortunately, in general, it is a build-in feature of fascism to be unable to realistically estimate either your or your enemy’s strengths. And frankly: most of them are very stupid.)

Incidentally, there is also the possibility of just using reactor grade Pu. (Though we need a PUREX separation plant for that too.) It would definitely work with boosted fission weapons, with the downside of being harder to work with and maintain due to higher radioactivity. But it could be done.

So we need our own capability to ensure that no matter how much power Russia exerts, it cannot win in any meaningful sense of the word.

Coincidentally, this is the population density of Russia:
