It is very naive to think that the tensions over Greenland have been reduced, along with the threat it represents, after Trump's speech.
Latching on to a single phrase, glossing over the rest of it, is sticking ones head in the sand.

The EU-Mercosur trade deal has been stalled after MEPs voted to refer the agreement to the European courts.
A close ballot saw MEPs in Strasbourg vote 334 to 324 in favour of asking the courts to determine whether the deal is compatible with EU policy.

So, are we really sure those arctic-warfare airborne battalion are being prepared for a domestic deployment?
This as not just a post, but a formal diplomatic demarche to European govts? Thinly veiled threat of US military aggression against ally (for now) Denmark? I really hope Europe is waking up to the threat they face
