A short article of mine on civil-military relations and democratic backsliding had been accepted for publication in the journal "Connections".

Then I received an email that the editors can't publish the paper unless I "remove the case study/examples of the United States" (1/x)

NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is now unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war

It's one thing to proudly publish LLM-generated essays with hallucinated sources, yet absolutely insane to promote your "work" by tagging the authors of said hallucinated articles

If you transfer the flimsy argument of the EU chat control proposal to "traditional" communications, then you would have to abolish the secrecy of correspondence because a tiny number of people post letters with criminal content.

Absolutely out of proportion to subject everyone to chat controls

"What they propose is in effect a mass surveillance free-for-all, opening up everyone’s intimate and confidential communications, whether government officials, military, investigative journalists, or activists. For all of Europe’s talk of sovereignty, this is a bizarre cybersecurity decision"

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...
