I’m happiest when surrounded by books, castles and having a good cup of tea preferably with a large slice of cake in the gift shop. Website: https://nicolaharrisauthor.com Blog: thehistoricalinkpot.blogspot.com #KU #hisfic #tudors #BookSky #EDS 🦓

Perhaps the most macabre item on display at the Folk is the charred stump of Bishop Hooper’s stake. It was found during the 1862 excavations for Bishop Hooper’s Memorial in St Mary’s Square…

Secrets. Power. Betrayal. She was no ordinary Tudor lady—Penelope Devereux shaped history from the shadows. ‘Penelope – Tudor Baroness’ is her story.

I’m thrilled to reveal the stunning jacket the clever people at Pen and Sword Books have designed for my forthcoming book about the woman known to fans of Tudor history as ‘Kat Ashley’.

Did the dying Elizabeth I signal that she approved of James VI as her successor? Who knows?! What matters is the story’s meaning.

It’s well known that accounts were circulated by English officials as a supplementary argument for James’s lawful claim.

Embroidered wall covering at Berkeley Castle around 500 years old. Did it grace the room used by King Henry viii and Anne Boleyn in 1535 or go with the King to Field of Cloth of Gold?

Something lovely for a rainy Tuesday (at least here in London). It’s Jane Seymour’s Phoenix badge (with a very human looking face) which I came across in a document I was researching recently #janeseymour #queen #queenofengland #tudor #henryviii

Finished it! WOW. You REALLY made Jane's terror and her tragic tenure as Queen come alive. It reminded me of Anne Stallybrass' portrayal of Jane, especially her fears, doubts and anxieties re: Anne Boleyn's fate. LOVED IT!!
