The terms "top", "bottom" and "switch" find their origin in BDSM, and while nowadays they've become full identities rather than roles to take during sex, that's a very recent phenomenon. Whether you find it restrictive or empowering, it's inescapable in the lgbtq+ scene.

The expression "coming out" was originated in the 20th century and it has nothing to do with closets!
It was inspired by coming out parties for young women who were formally presented into society. Gay people talked about coming out into "gay society" in a joyful way! ☺️💛
