It's definitely way slower but it hasn't really bothered me tbh. I've noticed I'm way more reckless though, face tanking my way through bosses. Enemies in general feel like baby's first moveset compared to Silksong also. Fighting Hornet is so fucking funny.

The jokes about HK being the tutorial for Silksong is pretty on point, lol. A shocking amount of people jumped into it without playing the original and I really don't think they should do that to themselves.

I really need to stop touching my speedrun attempts when I get home from work. I'll have a really good run going then come back and die a bunch in the most embarrassing ways possible then crash out over one of those spear guys in Shellwood. I'm never getting those achievements at this rate, lmao.

My surgery date has officially been set in November. Got a few things I need to prepare for it as it's a 6 week recovery period and I'm going to be absolutely fucked up on pain meds for the first week. With luck I'll bounce back pretty fast though and get a bunch of art done.

I think my favourite of all the silly little details in Silksong are the wild grunting noises Widow makes during her boss fight. Idk why but they delighted me so much. I just love feral women I guess.

"I AM AN ADULT WOMAN" at multiple points in the dialogue. Most people seem to have mostly understood that but much less so with Lace because people see her being called a child and turn their brains off I guess. It is mentioned that she's been roaming the halls longer than anyone else so she OLD.

Most of the walk backs aren't that bad (except Bilewater which felt like Team Cherry taking the piss out of anyone who has ever complained about it). It's the little rooms that lock you in and spawn waves of enemies that I hated the most, lol.
And yeah, Hornet damn near turns to the player and says-

The one in High Halls was especially awful, not to mention required. I went to get Garmond so he could carry me through that two-large-tanky-enemies-in-a-cramped-space bullshit while I hugged a corner and spammed poison beetles because fuck that. Team Cherry PLEASE less of that and more bosses.

But my second real criticism is the FUCKING GAUNTLETS EVERYWHERE. I don't mind the odd little challenge room but it felt like it was constant and they were incredibly frustrating and unfun. I'd rather throw myself at an interesting boss fight 20 times than a room full of random bullshit mooks.

Anyway, back to actual criticisms. When you're getting the hearts I wish we could have gotten to know literally anything about Nyleth or the coral guy to make sacrificing them more impactful. Felt a lot more for Karmelita, especially when she tried to sing in the present. Absolutely heartbreaking.

If you really want to get into it, the relationship between Lace and Silk is classic toxic parent stuff. Silk is actively infantilizing Lace forever because she just wants an eternal perfect little daughter. I feel that shit in my bones dude.

Their entire character arcs are about breaking free from the expectations attached to them due to the circumstances of their births. That's why Hornet opts to save Lace instead of just kicking Silk's head in again to make her stop. They are the same, mirrors of each other.

Speaking of that story, boy is part of the fandom already being completely incapable of reading comprehension. I understand media literacy is dead and all but the game damn near beats you over the head with the fact both Lace and Hornet LOOK like children but are ancient as fuck.

My main issue is actually the end boss fight. I was really expecting there to be a voidified Silk fight and am sad there isn't one? Future DLC maybe? I understand it from a story perspective but sucks from a gameplay perspective. The readability in late phase Lost Lace is also absolute ass.

I keep getting my ass obliterated by Lace 3.0. I can do her first two phases just fine but phase 3 is such sensory overload for me that I am STRUGGLING.
