Turns out it gets another mention later on, in the section about their 6 Music residency. (No, I haven’t finished the book yet. There might even be further discussion of it…)
Pet Shop Boys "So hard (David Morales Red Zone Mix)"

"He gets so much bass, doesn't he?" says Chris. "Why can't we get this bass? I've never understood why.
You want this, you have to go to America to get it." The producer steers the discussion in the studio towards The KLF's remix of "So hard"s B-side, "It must be obvious".
"It was really out there," says Neil. "I went to listen to it in their studio in Brixton. I went in a taxi. And when we got there, the taxi driver, who I didn't know knew who I was, said, 'I'm just going to wait here, Neil, for a couple of minutes just to check if you're all right going in there."" Safely inside, Neil listened to what they had done - "Not really a mix, it's more of a theme - it's a soundscape" - and received a request.
"They also got me to take two copies of 'Kylie Said To Jason', which Jason Donovan had signed, to get me to get Kylie to sign them, which I did."
This, he notes, was just before The KLF suddenly had huge mainstream pop success.
"Suddenly, they become the new Pet Shop Boys, really," he says. "I mean, they more or less push us out the way, to be honest."
"Well, they invented stadium house," says Chris.

Yes, I was just thinking they weren’t cheap (I was 14 at the time, and would spend the whole of what was euphemistically known as my “clothing allowance” on CDs.)

I bought that one too, along with Being Remixed. It gets a mention in this year’s “Annually”. (I actually quite like the UFO mix of It must be obvious! It is weird though.)
I may have my facts wrong here, but I think you're one of only two artists that have had a remix from the KLF. Depeche Mode had a remix of "Policy Of Truth". I've only heard the story from Bill Drummond's point of view, that he was doing a remix of "So hard", and you had to turn up to Trans Central to re-record vocals. Do you have any other memories of working with the KLF?

NT: This would have been 1990. I remember getting a taxi to their studio in what you would now call a
"sketchy" part of Brixton. And we pulled up, and the taxi driver turned to me and said: "If you don't mind, I'm just going to wait and make sure you're alright in there." Because it looked like a squat. But there they were, in the basement, and it was a good mix, and then on the B-side they did this crazy mix of "It must be obvious" that went on for about 15 minutes, our song filtered with lots of weird noises. But we're always going to like that kind of thing. I think for a while, they were the new Pet Shop Boys, they were a duo, and had a string of fantastic singles.

I like the cut of your mother in law’s jib.

(Any particular reason?)

Also the internal rhyme of faithful and fatal works well.

I was really hoping it would be Blue Monday, to compound the effect of his cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart.

In 2019 I married a man. I won the British quiz championships. I was diagnosed with a degenerative illness. I relentlessly made the news in New Zealand. I fell apart on Taskmaster.

This memoir is the story of how a shy gay Bengali teenager primed for a medical career, changed direction.

I feel like I should know what that is!

Daughter has taken to stomping up the stairs playing Brahms’ lullaby on her melodica. The effect is both less restful than you’d imagine, and also unhelpful for a chap with a sore head.

I’d say, from the looks of him, he was in an early line-up of Tears for Fears.
