The warmer the ocean is, the more energy a hurricane will have. The climate crisis is real, and no one in power wants to do anything about it.
What we're witnessing with #Melissa is ultra rare in the history of known hurricanes in the Atlantic. This level of sustained intensity and feasting on every joule of ocean heat content without any real disruption is incredible.

Not hyperbole: Jamaica is facing a generational catastrophic event.
Anxious about this week's field trip but fingers crossed it goes well!

the fact that Gallego is coming out firing with every barrel like this is kind of nuts.
Gallego: "How can I negotiate? The president is in Asia for 5 days. Johnson is basically keeping the House out until January to protect pedophiles. So who am I negotiating with right now?"
Tis me, slightly above average but within the normal distribution.
I’m curious then why minion wants a different pumpkin than the ones you have at home? Bigger? Or is the pumpkin patch all dressed out?
I’m curious in what ways it is different

The government shutdown has put SNAP benefits at risk for millions of Americans. Travis Peters, an urban farmer in Detroit, is giving out free produce tomorrow

When I was a kid, food stamps kept me fed. If we hadn’t had the help, I would have…idk, starved I guess?

As a young adult, I took out my own college loans and I am paying them back. I didn’t get any help; I’m an actual “bootstraps” story, rare. I jumped social classes. Now I’m married and have a
It’s honestly one of the best adaptations I’ve seen (I’m also biased cause I got to see its premiere)

When I was on SNAP, I:

-had a B.S. from a Big Ten university
-was working 80 hours/week, every week.
-was living in NYC, renting rooms in apartments month to month.
-making $11,100/year *BEFORE* taxes.
-I was working a federal job!
-at one point, they stopped covering our transit costs, too…
SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

Alien The Roleplaying Game: Heart of Darkness Cinematic Scenario Trailer (Fan Made)

Fixed the sign up sheet so it is editable too now
Nah I think that's pretty understandable for the day in question. Besides, I'm used to players getting distracted by IRL stuff anyway.
I may be tempted to do another game if it goes over well, but I'm sticking to Friday for now. But I definitely think you would be a fun player to include and I think you'd enjoy Heart of Darkness specifically (it's got some weird, funky, creepy stuff).
(I'm planning only one game of this but if we go over the 7 PC limit, I may decide to do another game at a later point.)
This session will use the original 1st edition rules (rather than Evolved Edition) as this is what Heart of Darkness was originally written for. Pre-generated characters are provided and their Personal Agendas will be used, but you are free to create your own character to fit the Agenda instead.
Like most cinematic scenarios it is intended as a stand alone adventure and has a high lethality rate. Relevant content warnings include incarceration, forced labor, body transformation, psychosis, and self-harm.
Heart of Darkness is a cinematic scenario for the Alien RPG, featuring untrustworthy characters, deadly monsters, madness, a haunted space station, and a (playable) cat. If you enjoy a bit of cosmic horror in your science fiction (or vice versa), this scenario is for you!
Around the radioactive cinders of a dead star, the crew of a penal station recover the shuttle of a long lost ship. You, a group of scientists, are sent to retrieve and study it. But the shuttle isn't empty: there's something alive inside of it, something that might have been better left forgotten.
