TOLKIEN: I pitched a story to my publisher about my wife defeating Satan. She has a gigantic wolf dog and is hot.

LEWIS: How’d it go?

TOLKIEN: He said to write The Hobbit 2.

LEWIS: Any ideas?

TOLKIEN: The magic ring is an evil artifact corrupting Bilbo.

LEWIS:

TOLKIEN: I love my wife, Lewis.
He put his wife in the story as someone who brought down the biggest baddest dark lord in history with the power of song!

These fools with their fake "palantirs" don't get it.
@defnotadino.bsky.social I did some math on my Midwest trip and noticed I need some more cash than I expected so delayed for the near future. I’ll let you know when I have more concrete plans!
Hopefully some place he can call to see if they have it?
Man Giant Freaking Robot really went off the deep when Rob Bricken left huh?

The Star Trek thing (see previous RTs) pisses me off not just bc it's obviously wrong but bc it's based on a deep misunderstanding of Trek, the least macho SFF franchise in which everyone abandons greed and aggression in favor of problem solving while wearing bright primary colors

Why is Kirk a better captain than Commodore Decker, Captain Garth, Captain Tracy, etc? Because he uses his mind and doesn't resort to foolish action at the earliest difficulty
Yes! Like critique if ultra machismo is a major theme
If that were the case, *everything* that peaked in popularity during the 70s-90s would have majority Republican fans and that very clearly isn’t true.
I also suspect the article is making this assertion based on very little evidence, presumably something along the lines of “Star Trek was most popular among Boomers and Gen X, more people in these generations are Republican, therefore most Trekkies are Republican” which is not how statistics works.

Your regular reminder that we desperately need to overturn Citizens United and get big money out of politics.

It is among the worst Supreme Court decisions in history.

It corrupts our political system every day.
To give you an idea of my uncle, during the 2024 election my mom was constantly reminded of him by Tim Walz.
The lore about my aunts is way more interesting (and messed up) than my one, extremely normie and chill uncle.
I don't need the lore behind your favorite posters... tell me about your uncles

If Spock were human, I believe his response to this article would be, “Go to hell”.

If he were human…

I don't think he's a Nazi. I think he thought it was funny and didn't want to cover it up because it reminded him of his Marine days. I think he's mad that he's had to explain himself now. And I think he has known what it was for a long, long time.

Is The Atlantic the only publication calling it what it is, a Nazi symbol? I feel like I keep reading "Nazi-like" or "resembles a Nazi symbol" and no, it is a straight up Nazi symbol.
Graham Platner seemed like the kind of candidate Democrats say they want. Then his history of inflammatory Reddit posts and his tattoo of a Nazi symbol came to light. Tyler Austin Harper spoke with him:
How ‘Big Tent’ Are Democrats Willing to Go?
Many in the party say it needs a wider range of candidates to run. Does that include people with Nazi tattoos?

In tonight’s session of Wild Beyond the Witchlight we talked to a unicorn, met Peter Pan killed a witch, and rescued kids from a sweat shop. #dnd #dungeonsanddragons #feywild #wildbeyondthewitchlight
Somehow I always sneak up on people which is really surprising to me since I’m not small (though you’re bigger) and I’m also not particularly agile. I just have quiet feet I guess?

to keep functioning, a society must discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities

I straight up don’t give a shit about part of the White House being torn down and evil corporations paying to rebuild it. I care about all the people about to lose SNAP. I care about the people being harassed, kidnapped, and disappeared by ICE. I care about all the furloughed government workers…
It’s amusing to me the original Nazis also hated being called Nazis.

it is truly incredible how Stephen Miller just openly flaunts his Nazi flag.

Like I'm genuinely shocked and appalled by how monstrous this man is. If he was literally possessed by dark forces it would make more sense to me than his ostensible origins producing such a font of shameless malice.
Stephen Miller: "The scandal is how Democrats & the left scarred the landscape of our country w/grotesque so-called modern art that celebrates ugliness ... very importantly, President Trump is making sure it's in the neo-classical design around which our nation's architecture has long been directed"
Confirmed I’m going to do my first overnight field trip substitute job, from Tuesday next week until Halloween!
