"Sparrow And The Skull"
Thread painting
This is the only hand embroidery on wallpaper full image artwork I have ever made. I love it but it was incredibly fragile to make. I've only shown it a couple of times because I couldn't part with it, but it is in my webshop.

A low light pink flower pattern wallpaper with black paint drips on the upper left corner. In the middle is a hand embroidered human skull with a male house sparrow standing on top. Both skull and sparrow are looking towards the left.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Nothing says "I'm a generic-looking white guy" like opening a game's character creation screen, seeing the default option, and, without making any changes, going, "yeah, that's pretty close" (although, that might say more about what some games consider "default" than it does about me...)

We watched House of the Long Shadows tonight. Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing - how could we say no? Very silly but a lot of fun - and surprisingly gory in places, for something made in a rather Hammer Films style

Philosophical conundrum: if a horror zine would reject Nightmare on Elm St, Seven, the Exorcist, the Omen, Frankenstein, Dracula, and every M. R. James story, is it still a horror zine?

Happy 50th anniversary, Brad and Janet! #RockyHorror
nixnada.bsky.social
I drew a new picture! It's been a year and a half since I last put pencil to paper, but I finally decided that my portrait of Brad needed a Janet
A colour pencil drawing on black paper of Janet Weiss from Rocky Horror, with a corset on and a boa across one shoulder. Her face is painted white in a green-rimmed oval, with green makeup around her eyes and red lipstick on her lips. A colour pencil drawing on black paper of Brad Majors from Rocky Horror, with a corset on and a boa across his shoulders. His face is painted white in a red-rimmed oval, with red makeup around his eyes and on his lips, and he is holding one hand up to his chest

#WIP More progress with this blackbirds and rowan drawing. Had an incident with the masking tape, did not want to come off and the white edge is a bit on the scruffy side as a result. I will list it as a 'Perfectly Imperfect'. It won't look bad when it's framed.

#WorkInProgress #Drawing
Further progress with this drawing of blackbirds with rowan. two thirds of the drawing is coloured now, one bird, some leaves and a background to go. Finished drawing, a male and female blackbird in among rowan berries and leaves in autumnal colour. The drawing has a black background.
Some damage has occurred to the paper edge, but that is not visible in this photo.

One of the unexpected things I've learned from my advocacy for trans people is how malignant parts of the State can be, how it can misuse data for positively evil purposes. It's taught me people can't be safe with a digital ID card and so I've signed this. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/73...
Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards
We demand that the UK Government immediately commits to not introducing a digital ID cards. There are reports that this is being looked at.
