I have created a Gift list of Books for my Nephew’s Cancer Battle if anyone wants to donate. I will be adding more based in recommendations. Would love to create a library for kids fighting cancer. Book’s For Henry - Amazon Gift List - www.amazon.com/registries/g...
Just realized @eeknight.bsky.social is here on the bluesky and now I want to go back a reread all the Vampire Earth books. I miss Valentine and Ahn-Kah.
Reading a Jonathon Tropper novels (for work and not pleasure) and man does he like to wax elegant about how hard it is to be a 40 year old middle class white dude.
Just enjoy what books you can! Reaching goals is great but I’d rather enjoy 50 books than achieve the arbitrary goal I created back in January.
I’m definitely going to listen to this in audio but man, hopefully there will be a few left when we are in NY for the girls auditions this winter. Need a copy for my shelf.
Yeah, I took my second job because they didn’t pay well but had good benefits. Worked there 11-7 for about 5 years but have been there in various positions for 24 years now. Sometimes you just need a foot in the door.
Your living a Morrissey song.

I worked 11-7 for two different jobs for like 7 years.
It can be tough but has it’s benefits. Hopefully yours has more benefits than toughs.
I feel the proper response is to share pictures of your dogs in costumes, to support Velvateen.
This morning I made Pancakes for the kids and French Toast for me and my wife and this asshole managed to knock a whole uncooked scrambled egg onto his head.
So I just did a full month of horror novels and want to take a break and maybe read the new Lincoln Lawyer book or the new John Grisham novel but damn that King Sorrow by Joe Hill looks so tempting.
So what are we? Abusive or at best neglectful incompetents or human angels sacrificing to care for people no one else wants to? It frustrates me because I love my job and the people I serve but I do it because I get paid every two week.
I’ve worked for a congregant care facility for 24 years. I have never seen a single positive representation of a Direct Care staff in movies or tv yet anytime I tell someone what I do for a job I get told “Oh, it takes a special kind of person to do what you do.”
Reading Brian Keene’s news letter and he mentioned he liked the The Rule of Jenny Pen. I hated this movie and I think he nailed the reason why. Working for a Residential facility for individuals with IDD I just couldn’t believe any staff could be this incompetent.
I lost nearly 400 lbs by cutting my food intake and eating healthier. My grocery bill doubled while I was dieting, and I still ate too
much processed foods.
Final of the year or final ever? Also, reading Below by @laurelhightower.bsky.social right now (on top of a bunch of other books) and it’s very creepy.
I guess the cat’s out of the bag. My job announced a series of leadership changes and promotions and with 24 years of experience at various positions in the organization I will not be taking over as the President of the company. But, I did finally get my own work phone number this year.
Some may say, “You’re being hyperbolic.” Yesterday I saw someone tell a woman whose brother has an intellectual disablility who was worried what would happen to him if she died that “we shouldn’t be responsible to take care of someone who offers nothing to society.” This person was a christian.
Seems that in the 30 years since I was in the conservative fundamentalist christian movement they have gone from “it should be our responsibility through charities and churches to care for the poor and disadvantaged and not the government’s” to “It’s not our responsibility, let them starve.”
Settling in for another hard day at work:
Oh, if only I didn’t live 3,000 miles away.
Man, I take a few days off from doomscrolling through social media and I miss this.
Finished Breathe In, Bleed Out by @brianmcwriter.bsky.social read by @jercarparvo.bsky.social Another fun slasher with more depths than I expected. Going to have to check out his other books. Next up is The Haar by @davidsoderberg.bsky.social.
Reminder: Pat Tomlinson is a mysogynistic asshat who has harassed women online, made rape threats and is basically just a bad actor and recently made up an outrage (when there is plenty of things to be upset about that Trump has done) for likes and engagement. Don’t give to to him. Always fact check
I have a few friends reposting Pat Tomlinson recent performative post about Trump’s west wing destruction claiming a sign from the FDR museum is being destroyed when it isn’t. Can we all agree to give honest critiques of Trump while ignoring Pat’s erroneous claims? He doesn’t deserve out attention.
It would be really cool if we could import this lady’s screaming directly into their helmets instead of my skull.
