The human resources manager in me says they were told that they were furloughed but on-call, which isn't a thing. They were told that they were still bound by the terms and conditions of employment, meaning subject to disciplinary action. If they had refused, they would have been terminated.

Who does Johnson think he’s fooling?! Dude sent the House home early to dodge a vote on releasing the Epstein files, and he’s keeping them away for the same reason.

Congress is still getting paid, but Johnson won’t bring the House back to fund the military. This is on him, not the Democrats.
