I still think we shouldn't view Obama in the sense that he was able to create a world in which hope felt like it was a thing that could exist, but in that he failed to do enough to preserve such a world and instead allowed the most evil people imaginable to rise up and prosper.

And then I come of age and instead somehow we reject all of the things I was taught growing up and history is the story of how if you merely believe hard enough in evil, it will always win.

I miss when everything felt like hope was real instead of constantly watching demons do demon things.

Like tbh this is part of why I'm such a maladjusted adult lol.

I grew up under Obama when everyone was convinced racism was over and homophobia wasn't gonna be cool anymore after obergefell and we were on track to realize the hegelian notion that history is about progress.
