I think Platner is better for the moment in a national sense, and he also obviously has local bona fides, but Maine is one of the few states where the race hasn't been nationalized. Whoever is going to beat Collins has to have a colossal local network, and he doesn't have that (yet).
Not a great argument for your vision of healthcare when the best way to spin things is "these serfs were going to lose their healthcare one way or another!"
A shutdown like this ought to be a prime opportunity for the GOP spin machine to do its thing, but instead they can't even keep a lid on people like MTG saying how much she hates Johnson.
The president is in a meeting about antifa, have you seen this? Have you heard about this? Nobody even knows what "antifa" means. Yeah, but now we know it doesn't mean "antifa-lling asleep."
Mills has been a good governor from what I can tell and in terms of beating Collins, she is probably on equal footing with Platner. In terms of meeting the moment, she is very much the wrong person, and age is only one factor.
In the US "public intellectual" basically means a middle aged person whose defining hobby is getting mad at college kids and who has gone tangibly insane on twitter
It really sucks that we have to know who everyone is. No person living in a functioning democracy should ever have to know who the leader of the Office of Management and Budget is, much less that he's one of the worst people in the world.
The guy who created a vigilante group in the '70s and has an uncountable number of cats is the most principled opposition candidate in this race. It's not even close.
Adams is certainly authentic. I wouldn't call his authenticity courageous and it's the opposite of an act of service but he is a genuine oddball and does not hide it.
But if she doesn't wait for DSCC approval all the money donated directly to her might not end up in the hands of consultants who will lead us to the promised land
They don't even bring up bad faith accusations of antisemitism. Between this interview and Cuomo putting out some half assed statement about the horrors in Gaza, the NYC political establishment has apparently figured out that AIPAC talking points are a no-go for this election.
At this point I think the main difference between Schumer and Trump is that Trump's brain froze sometime in the '80s while Schumer's froze sometime in the '90s
i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.
It's sort of like how very few people knew about The Velvet Underground when they started making music but everyone who did started their own band. Everyone who has heard of the abundance agenda has started their own terrible podcast.
