unless you run over them with a truck, your cartridges should last forever. electronic chips have no moving parts, so they can't "wear out." the only problem you might have is damaging the board on the cartridge that touches your video game system. but coleco, for one, designs their carts to withstand 10,000 insertions. that's like plugging the game in three times a day, every day, for ten years. and if you can't beat the game by then, you should run it over with a truck.

This will absolutely trash the humanities @ Harvard too. It's tragic. Certain hints in the piece (German has been in trouble for a while) but when I was there, you'd meet people getting PhDs in Celtic literature, Slavic languages...they already felt anachronistic in the 2010s, & they won't survive 😔

queing up 30+ program notification emails to go out tomorrow morning and my god, I cannot emphasize how many times Outlook has shat the bed tonight. A program designed to write and send emails, has failed to create new emails at least half a dozen times in one sitting. bring back passenger pigeons.

It certainly looks like this new era will challenge a lot of programs. For instance, this law being framed in revenue: I looked, and WMU and Miami (my alma mater) have $39 and $38 million in revenue, respectively…and existing expenses in the very high 30s too. They can’t even do what B1G schools can

On the other hand, my daughters came to work with me today and got to meet Caroline Shaw, which was awesome!

I haven't been careful enough about keeping every bill, and First Energy deletes them after a year, but the net effect is going from bills around $70 in 2021, to $90 in 2023 to $130-140 in 2025. But ChatGPT will do sexytimes soon, which is way better than curing cancer or funding my Roth IRA

People on the town reddit fighting over data centers and power costs again (we live just north of data center central, Loudon Co., Virginia, and it's constantly threatening to expand). The price really is crazy though: it's almost doubled in four years, from 6.3 cents to 10.9 on the most recent bill
