Just kidding. There's no simpsons lore club outside of outsmarting thr real life comic book guys. When tvey do a retcon that fails that very easy barrier, i wonder.
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
That's what we call it in the 'biz, anyway
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Evergreen Terrace Evergreen
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Also, this made me appreciate early era simpsons a lot more, be aware that any political joke you're making is gonna be 2-3 years old by the time you ship, so you'd better make it evergreen
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Yeah i post a lot of shit on here for sure.

but anything that goes into our games has to be vetted for history. You can say the exact same thing without explicitly referencing Musk, a guy who will not only be forgotten the moment he dies, but has a lot of enemies hoping he'll remain a footnote
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
our latest game is pretty pissy, politically. but the thing is, i've outlawed anything referring to specific current affairs. so that the things we're annoyed about may feel as relevant 50 years from now.
(obviously my main hope is that they'll feel like quaint relics debating stuff solved ages ago)
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
i truly don't know what to say here, beyond

I support you, and

"they're recording everything these days but you're hopefully on the right side of history"
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
yeah, the only tactic you have is pushing them away from public views. of course, they're getting bolder these days with their lala land tiktok shit making them think they're not *actually* a pathetic minority
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
The place is wholly unappealing until Hair Guy dies, and even then I'm scared shitless of his much smarter but still dumb in a human sense cronies
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
And I'm not selling you short here, It's just such an American (That incudes South America) thing to just chill over multiple things that would mean a Forever War on any other continent at the time those conflicts were formed
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Honestly this would have been the most America thing that ever could happen, you folks are masters at ignoring potential strife and getting along despite vast potential for absolutely earth shattering conflicts
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
I'm not hoping for a violent resolution, that's how you get warlords, but I'm hoping for a soft reboot into 2018 era "let's pretend none of this ever happened" America. They've generally been good at that kind of willful disassociation so far so why break the tradition
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Don't get me wrong, i abhor violence, and I don't think it's right to take a life, but identifying as a Nazi, or supporting their beliefs, is one of the few cases where I think a severe beating is in order as a baseline measure of common decency.
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
hahaha, i've seen that rule put into effect so many times in my youth. It works. Even If it's just the threat of physical violence.
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
I always knew that Nixon guy would lead to trouble

While The (Gen 68) US stance is "We saved Europe's asses in WW2 and I don't know what happened during Vietnam, but there sure was a lot of bothersome homeless people after that war and iI'm still not sure how that connects to homeless people today"
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
I think the problem with the US side of history is that they've never been humbled on home ground. Most of us are like "OK, we were invaded by Nazis and a lot of people showed their true colors the, let them live in infamy and shame",
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Don't get me wrong, i'm a naif, a fool, a common-or-garden-idiot. but my grandparents, who lived through the German iInvasion during WW2 still taught me enough about how fascism works for me to avoid ever aligning with it
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Reading US news is so weird, they're just speedrunning every facet of how Nazi Germany was intitially formed and the people in charge seem very proud of it
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
oh yeah, my friend's Brazilian wife has been keeping me up to speed on that at uneven intervals and it's so easy to get caught up on the major superpowers when it comes to politics
oleivarrudi.bsky.social

oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Even Mussolini, who was an absolute idiot, wouldn't have tried that
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
The pissbaby trying to threaten the Nobel Committee into giving him the peace prize has to be an all time low in human history
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
I know a lot of real US citizens who are very dissatisfied with the current perversions of their thought-to-be holy ideals (Give me your tired, your poor,/ Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free) though, and I still like those folks
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
and that list is quite permissive
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
Yeah they passed every Umberto Eco requirement to be a fascist state in record time
oleivarrudi.bsky.social
At this point I'm not planning on revisiting the place because any dissent is valid reason to refuse entry and I have plenty dissent. And I don't like the idea of spending 18 hours on planes doing a symbolic tour/retour
