The top end estimate for how many members of the SS faced eventual legal consequences is ~5%. Once atrocity is committed a sufficient scale justice becomes a political and logistical question as much as a moral one. There will be no grand denouement. But they can live in shame.

A student on TikTok has been documenting her journey with a professor who “wrote” the anatomy textbook and it’s all a bunch of AI hallucinations.

She’s saying that, understandably, the students are doing super poorly!

Behold what we’re teaching the healthcare professionals of tomorrow:

A diagram of the bones and (some) deep muscles of the hand and forearm. AI says that we only have four digits. It’s also identified a tendon as the median nerve, another tendon as the ulnar nerve, among other issues.

Yeah I think people here have unrealistic expectations for like jailing all ICE agents and that’s just almost certainly not going to happen even in extremely cool zone scenarios. But they should 100% have to lie for the rest of their lives about their employment history in conversation with everyone

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

Time dilation makes terraforming easy. Plop down a few microbes, maybe some self maintaining AI, then speed up and come back in what is for you a few weeks but has been centuries for the planet. Shake and bake. Probably a few technical things to figure out tho.

ABSTRACT
This study explores whether large language models can exhibit behavioral patterns
similar to human gambling addictions. As LLMs are increasingly utilized in finan-
cial decision-making domains such as asset management and commodity trading,
understanding their potential for pathological decision-making has gained practi-
cal significance. We systematically analyze LLM decision-making at cognitive-
behavioral and neural levels based on human gambling addiction research. In slot
machine experiments, we identified cognitive features of human gambling addic-
tion, such as illusion of control, gambler’s fallacy, and loss chasing. When given
the freedom to determine their own target amounts and betting sizes, bankruptcy
rates rose substantially alongside increased irrational behavior, demonstrating that
greater autonomy amplifies risk-taking tendencies. Through neural circuit analy-
sis using a Sparse Autoencoder, we confirmed that model behavior is controlled by
abstract decision-making features related to risky and safe behaviors, not merely
by prompts. These findings suggest LLMs can internalize human-like cognitive
biases and decision-making mechanisms beyond simply mimicking training data
patterns, emphasizing the importance of AI safety design in financial applications
