it's weird, but they faced so much speculation, ~investigations~, forced outings (there was a leaked private video in 2011), media attention, and homophobia that they explained they were each other's safe space, esp for dan, and to make the relationship public terrified him

yes, they got tired of it. there were things they wanted to do (professionally) and it was just holding them back. at first (after coming out in 2019), they just wanted to protect their relationship/personal life, but this "2nd closet" became too much. totally understandable.

it's weird because we all /knew/. they teased us for the last two years /at least/ about how they knew we knew etc etc. like it was so completely obvious and there were times they just basically said they were together. but it was still behind a very, very thin and see-through curtain.
