I miss the inconveniences of his hair just sticking to everything, of him tracking dirty pee litter to the furniture, of him meowing at me for attention in the middle of an important meeting, of his expensive medication and mercurial health... and all the ways all of this informed my daily life...

The worst and most long-lasting part of mourning a pet is all the ways in which your routine revolved around them... there's always gonna feel like some part of my life is missing every day I don't fill up two food bowls, don't measure and reorder medication, don't sweep the kicked up litter...
