Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [LOCATION]
I'm messaging to demand [SENATOR] oppose S. 1748, the Kids Online Safety Act, also known as KOSA. This broad legislation does not protect anyone and instead will be used to block any speech that the Trump administration’s partisan FTC disagrees with. It pushes the “duty of care” onto websites and social media platforms to remove content that is “harmful to children”. It would lead to overcompliance, mass censorship, and remove access to crucial information re: everything from mental health, LGBT topics, substance abuse, eating disorders and more.
Additionally, while large, corporate platforms like X can shoulder the weight of “duty of care”, smaller websites cannot, leading to greater and greater concentrations of power online into giant corporate platforms rather than small and medium sized businesses.
KOSA will not make kids safer. It will make the internet more dangerous for anyone who relies on it to learn, connect, or speak freely. Lawmakers should reject it, and fast.

Not sure how to best report for Ohio, but my mother's Uber driver told her that so few drivers are at the CVG airport (Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky) because ICE are snatching drivers over there.

He said that it's only a matter of time before they get him too, even though he's legal.

Normally I try to keep my daily comics to stuff that has happened on the current day, but yesterday was so much fun!

Part 1 - Went to the Ren Faire yesterday with friends. I'm in the midst of a gaggle of nerds dressed up in various costumes.
In the bottom left hand corner you see a close up of the fancy hat on my head. The caption reads "I bought a hat."
Part 2 - Saw some cool people. Too many to draw actually.
An elderly shroom fairy. She's an old lady with a giant mushroom hat and little butterfly wings.
Tall faun lady. She is a tall slender lady wearing deer horns and ears, a deer tail, and a mini skirt with tights patterned like spotted deer legs and special shoes that make her feet look like hooves. With the shoes. She's really tall even without them.
Blue deer furry. They are a blue and white deer with large anime-like eyes on the head of the costume and hearts in its ears.
Part 3 - Pickle Pirate. He's a pirate pushing a cart full of pickles in green ice bins selling them for $3. He has a giant green plume on his pirate hat and a pickle-shaped flask on his waist.
Dame Whatshername who beat the shit outta everyone in the free-for-all. She was very punchy. She is a small plate armor clad knight with an angry looking helm and a blue plume attached to the back of it. She is raising a slender pole with a small hatchet head on the end of it above her head. She is drawn again below using her gauntlets to punch another night in their helmet.

A small victory! Chat Control has been tabled for now, but it can [and likely will] be brought up for vote again in December

In the meantime, EU citizens will need to continue pressuring their respective govts to oppose chat control

I want to remind people that when there is a call to action to "contact your reps", it needs to be more than once

Going forward, contacting your reps needs to become part of your routine, at the very least during the work week.

Sustained pressure over time is what matters!

October is truly the month for mischief!
