Light it up for #NautilusNight with an original Nautilus Reading Lamp by Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co. (NYC, USA), bronze & leaded glass, c. 1899-1902. [A later version would use an actual #nautilus shell for the shade.]  Cleveland Museum of Art: clevelandart.org/art/1997.298 #ArtNouveau

DESCRIPTION Benjamin Hubbell, the architect of the Cleveland Museum of Art, acquired this vase from Louis Comfort Tiffany, with whom he collaborated on various projects. The shape of the nautilus shell provides the perfect space to conceal a light bulb, the newest form of technology at the time. As a result, this lamp was a critical success and sold both in this original form and with the later alteration of a bronze mermaid for the stand and an actual nautilus shell for the shade.

Found a spot in Thief 2 where you can see occlusion culling happening in real time

Theoretically, since all of this was built from BSP brushes, this kind of detailed culling should be essentially a free feature of the system (as long as you set up your visportals correctly)

Too many of you do not understand the concept of infrastructure. How systems are built, how systems are maintained.

You want big bold action but haven't committed to the planning and the boring mundane tasks needed to make said action possible.

My brain can't focus right now, so here's a thread of some works from my Glasslands setting

A blue mech suit pulling a trailer with a red fuel oil tank on it. There's driving sleet, a frozen pond, and a dead birch tree in the background

Two characters in heavy ponchos looking through, respectively, a large spotting scope and a surveyor's theodolite. It's just after sunset and buttes rise into the background. Near the foreground character is a dead campfire with a Utah Teapot sitting on a small frame.

People descend a staircase in a dimly lit corridor lined with corrugated aluminum siding walls and girders with holes similar to what you'd see inside a rigid airship. At the front of the procession is a dark skinned man dressed in deep red, his face covered with a drapery hanging from a red, ornate mitre, and holding large gold processional candle holder with a spiral design on top. The procession is dressed similarly, and each person holds a single candle in large gold candle holders of their own.
