National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

The notion of charging a black journalist under the KKK Act because he covered a pro-immigrant protest at a white Christian nationalist church is just so cartoonishly goddamned sinister. It also won't go anywhere.

But they're absolutely relishing it.

DOJ Says It May Use KKK Act To Prosecute Don Lemon For Reporting On Church ICE Protest
"It’s notable that I’ve been cast as the face of a protest I was covering as a journalist," the former CNN host said.

One of the most unexpected media events of this moment has been entertainment (Teen Vogue, People) & trade (Wired) publications accurately reporting the news & cogently calling out fascist falsehoods, while our Serious News Sources (NYT, WP, WSJ) avoid truth or sane-washes it, and publishes pablum.
Seriously, @people.com has been meeting the moment better than 90% of publications with direct reporting and crystal clear headlines.

This is a good way for the low-information voters who are usually detached from the news cycle to get turned around.

I like the "of course" here because he's absolutely right that this is an incredibly easy call for congressional Democrats to make.
Under Secretary Kristi Noem’s leadership, DHS and ICE have made America less safe and less free every day, trampling our Constitution, terrifying our people and blocking congressional oversight. I am of course voting to oppose legislation to fund Donald Trump’s DHS.

if you cant instruct your local police to surround schools to protect them from ice because youre scared the cops will turn around and instead help kidnap children then you should state that plainly and clearly

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

All I have ever heard about every news story from Bill Clinton to drag shows is “it’s awful, parents have to explain this to their children, why can’t we just let kids be kids?”

Now an entire classroom is going to go home to parents trying to explain why their five year friend was taken by the govt
Liam is one of four Columbia Heights, MN school district students who have been taken by ICE in the last two weeks, the school district said. Liam's teacher: “He is so kind and loving, and his classmates miss him. He ... just brightens the room. All I want is for him to be back here and safe.”

Re ICE actrocities in MN, I’ve already said that lately I feel consistently angrier than I’ve ever felt in my long life.

But I also feel absolutely heartsick. That poor little 5-year old baby kidnapped, imagining how scared he was…

I know many of you feel the same. Love and solidarity to you.
