I must not discourse.
Discourse is the mind-killer.
Discourse is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face the discourse.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

i have never been a "call your senator" type of activist, if I'm being honest. But it would mean a lot to me personally if you helped put pressure on US lawmakers to help their constituents that are in Israeli captivity as part of the aid flotilla.

Right now, Donald Trump, Kash Patel, Kristi Noem, and other officials are participating in a panel about "Antifa," threatening to "destroy the entire organization [sic] from top to bottom."

This is a good time to revisit our guide to preparing for repression:

We're not in the business of giving advice to nation states but here goes:

Hey, Germany? No one was asking for you to declare yourself the world authority on defining antisemitism.

I wrote a post about Palestine and then got an angry email from someone in Germany about it. Least surprising development of the day. Oh antideutsch, keep disappointing everyone.

so far I've only lost six subscribers since posting it, which means I've been doing an alright job of making sure people know what I'm about, I suppose.

this week's post is about palestine, the history of zionism, and anecdotes about israeli anarchist friends of mine from years ago who were living in exile to avoid joining the IDF

if you live under a rock that I wish I was also under, anti-deutsch is the "anti-german" movement in Germany that is about the most german thing in the world, where they feel so guilty about WWII that ostensible antifascists have been waving israeli and US flags at demos for decades.

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

they don’t want you to know how they treat prisoners because it will grieve you to know it, which is natural and human, and because of your normal human reaction you will want the system changed. It’s important to them that your natural aversion to how the system works not be engaged.

35) The Immortal Choir Holds Every Voice by @margaret.bsky.social

I'm a bit late to this one, but I finally managed to sit down for it and it is lovely. Really, really special. Margaret's prose is as good as always but the themes and stories are just... Its really something special. Worth reading~
The cover illustration of The Immortal Choir holds every Voice by Margaret Killjoy, featuring a mysterious bull illuminated by fire.

The weird magic world of Danielle Cain has only gotten better with time, but the execution is a little different from prior books in the series, where the focus had been Danielle and her small found family and their adventures. This book sees them taking a break, literally, pausing to wait out the night and sharing stories and these stories are what we are privy to.

And they are excellent; all different flavors of weird with varying levels of darkness to them. They harken back to the first novelle with specific characters but outside of that they can be enjoyed on their own if so desired.

Admittedly, they can get very unpleasant; there are some dark concepts at play here. Not just in the magical sense, but in the human sense. Without spoiling too much, the third story in particular is very, very prescient to our current political climate and paints a picture about how dangerous things can become very easily.

In a way, I appreciated that. The stories become a little educational; a little something more. And the biggest thing it gave me was hope. I'm not naive enough to think that everything will be hunky-dory is we just believe it will. If that was the case, we'd never have been in this situation to begin with. But the stories do give me strength in the idea of human will. In how similar we all are and how we all face common evils.

It really is a great book; maybe even the best in the series. Its truly special. Worth reading and cherishing for a long time to come. I hope Margaret does more in this series, I do love these characters, but if it never happens, this is a fine send off for sure.

Donald Trump is trying to criminalize opposition to fascism. What are the real threats—and how can people prepare for them?

We've prepared a zine version of "Make Ready: Safeguarding Our Movements against Repression."

Please print these out and distribute them widely!

The front and back cover of the zine "Make Ready: Safeguarding Our Movements against Repression."

The back cover reads "Everyone who is
against fascism is
an anti-fascist. In
seeking to target
everyone who opposes
fascism, Trump is
biting off more than
he can chew—provided
we don’t roll over
and let him win."

There is also a CrimethInc. logo.

Thank you @margaret.bsky.social and @detritusbooks.bsky.social for being awesome! This order happened explicitly because of the CZM Book Club. I was entranced and had to get a copy for myself.

in my experience, whenever we pressure platforms to deplatform extremism, anarchists and leftists are deplatformed more often than the right wing. I don't personally see it as remarkably different than any other compromise I make on a daily basis like letting credit card companies take a cut.

this week's post is about how hard it is for us to have conversations about what's happening when we don't actually agree about how bad things are right now
