I was going to add a bit more - but ran out of characters. You have expressed what I was also going to add. There is a very selfish streak running through current British society. Also there is strong trend of anti intellectualism which feeds into a lack of respect for others.

It is cultural. There are not enough societal checks against shaming behaviour, like you get in East Asia. It is also because our big cities are melting pots: which is fine: but people should adapt to and respect cultural norms, like I do when I travel to other countries, as I am sure you do.

I think it is fairly clear that the Trump Administration is trying to encourage the population into social unrest, so that they can declare an emergency to end Democracy.
Is the government shutdown and the end of the food stamp programme part of that strategy?
