‼️Did you know that 1,180 schools in England have lost more than £1,000,000.00 in real-terms school funding since 2010?

It’s shocking and it’s unacceptable.

£1 million isn't just a number.

It was great to also see the projects by the local community, in particular the V&A East Youth Collective who have reinterpreted the London Underground’s tube map with places familiar to themselves. What an amazing resource for East London and the wider community!
There are highlights that you come across like the Kaufmann Office designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the 15th-century Spanish ceiling from the now gone Torrijos Palace, the interior from the Robin Hood Estate, and the giant stage backdrop copy of a Picasso created for the musical comedy Le Train Bleu.
I had an amazing visit to the V&A East Storehouse today - so much to see as you navigate the three floors of the building. The transparency is carried out throughout the building with open display of the objects and showcases explaining things like interpretation and how numbers are given to objects
This week is #YouthEmploymentWeek and as usual I will be working on career related activities supporting young people into working in museums and creative careers @tate.bsky.social @foundlingmuseum.bsky.social @gem.org.uk

Yesterday I was excited to visit
@paraheritage.bsky.social and talk to some of their trainees and work experience students as part of my evaluation work. The highlights for me of the objects on display were work placement student Electra’s Paralympic Mascot’s display and the 2012 Paralympic torch!
Thank you @foundlingmuseum.bsky.social for inviting me to His Majesty’s garden party for those working in education & skills at Buckingham Palace today. The weather was beautiful and the cake was delicious. We got very close to King Charles and he even shook my friend’s hand! 😮
I’ll be @museumsandheritage.com on Thursday in theatre 3 at 10.15 as part of a talk for @gem.org.uk on Inclusive pathways in Museums and Heritage with an amazing panel of speakers. The government has ditched one provider of asylum accommodation because of its 'performance and behaviour', only to pass it to three of Refugee Action’s most wanted companies: Corporate Travel Management (CTM), Mears and Serco.

Loved the exhibition ‘Lives Less Ordinary: Working-Class Britain Re-seen’ in the beautiful #TwoTemplePlace Artist Kelly O’Brien’s ‘Cleaner No.1’ & ‘Three Generations of Work CV’ resonated with the conversations I’ve had with underrepresented young people recently about their CVs
Finally got to visit @brunelmuseum.bsky.social We particularly enjoyed going down into the shaft. Loved that Marc Isambard Brunel’s daughter Sophia was interested in engineering - ‘Brunel in petticoats’ - although sadly she was born in Victorian times so no further education as a woman.
Today’s the day - thanks for asking me #ERIC #NCW2025
I’m excited to be back at the M+H show later in the year with @gem.org.uk I’ll be part of a panel discussion on Thursday 15 May focusing on Inclusive career pathways in museums and heritage

Most of my work is with young people looking to work in museums & galleries but people change careers too. I am working with #IdleWomen to support them to set up a paid traineeship for women from local refuge #Humraaz, and I have a new mature student mentee through #UALProfessionalMentoring
