New reporting shows the “one in, one out” scheme is harming survivors of torture and trafficking while failing to deter crossings. Safeguards in detention are breaking down. This is performative cruelty, not effective policy.

The Guardian reports far- right groups harassing people seeking safety in northern France, destroying water supplies and invading sleeping spaces. This is where the politics of division leads. We need leaders who choose hope and unity. Read the article here: https://bit.ly/4sRPMn2

People who survive an authoritarian regime should not have to risk their lives again just to exercise their right to seek asylum here.
The atrocities in Iran show how important it is that the UK welcomes and provides safe routes for refugees.

4,780 Iranians were forced to make dangerous channel crossings in the year ending September 2025.

A system in which Government spends money on social housing for all rather than on private companies and landlords? Makes total sense to us. In fact, we've even written a whole report about it.

It means more homes for all people in need.

Shabana Mahmood’s latest asylum plans are dangerous for all communities.

The UN says they could “create prolonged uncertainty and despair, undermining integration and social cohesion”.

If the Home Secretary truly wants to “unite the country” then she must listen.

Each winter, we invite supporters to write messages of welcome on Christmas baubles to share with people navigating the asylum system. They are reminding people they are seen and not alone. We’re sharing a few today. ❤️

No one should face winter alone. As the weather gets colder, people seeking safety are forced to navigate the asylum system without support. Our Winter Appeal will double your donation.

Cathy and Bsma describe how the government’s dehumanising plans for asylum make them feel. Families wait years, contribute locally, yet aren’t treated as human. These distractions won’t stop fatal Channel crossings. Choose dignity, fairness and belonging. Share their voices today.

This new law is anti-refugee.

It’s another attack on rights, and further criminalises people seeking safety.

Instead of lifting the ban on work and uniting communities, the government is doubling down on failed deterrence policies.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

Do deterrence policies stop people from fleeing? The Rwanda policy, Bibby Stockholm, ban on work and countless others show they do not. People leave because they have no choice.

🧵: The Government’s dehumanising new asylum proposals – what are they, and why it matters.

It's worth us saying, none of these plans are in force yet. They require new rules or legislation. And in many areas, the details are still unclear.
