I grew up watching King, not a fan. Carrie was excellent, the Shining overrated, The Tommyknockers was terrible and The Mist had a cheap shot ending. Reading King has been better. Carrie was superb - better than the movie, DNFd the Shining, Firestarter was great and the Stand is pretty good so far.

Completely agree, I wrote a 3rd year college paper on it. Simms' is a close second but lacks the full impact of Rizzo.

I have been told that hockey sticks are useful, if one has the appropriate skill of course.

Very sorry for your loss - they are family.

There's enough thugs out there who love unfettered power more than cash. They'll happily break heads for minimum wage.

Yikes indeed. My parents weren't citizens when I was born in Manitoba 60+ years ago. But I'm white so I'm probably ok.

Probably.

Oooh I can understand the appeal. When the hold isn't on the shelf, do you find it frustrating or the start of an adventure to find it?

1979 My sister and I took one from Dover to Boulogne. What a trip!

Slattern is more appropriate for my period, but Bint would work.

Sorry - They should start selling what again?!

My life has been wasted....

Supermarkets should start selling that bread that's studded with baked bacon again. It was brilliant. You got chunks of cooked bacon in every slice. It toasted up beautifully and was great for sandwiches. I can't be the only person who misses it.

All dressed, then bbq. Salt and (malt) vinegar really have to be a UK brand to get the flavour right.

Posting positives through mashing up posts.
This caption in one post appeared above this photo in another in my feed - and they just work.

Apologies to @tabletopbill.bsky.social @jewelknightjess.com and @geam.bsky.social

Applause, she deserves applause.

If you start at 8, the dealers and resellers will show up and pester you at 7. At 6 even they will be reluctant to haul their asses out of bed to skim all the good stuff.

Uh, we invented most of this shit.

Old age is knowing this was always the case.

AAAACK Centre pic is a CF-104 Starfighter NOT a Voodoo!

Posting positives, a small selection of the photographs I received from a member of our local buy nothing group. Sadly not everyone has the space or desire to preserve family history.
Collection of pictures of Canadian Airforce jet aircraft. Large image centre CF-101 Voodoo. Top right flight of 3 CF-100 Canucks. Lower right flight of 4 F86 Sabres. Bottom left a single F-86 Sabre. There was recently one for my favourite WWII rules that was so bad, the designer felt it necessary to step in and comment.

Like @jamesmanto.bsky.social I'm in Canada I remember a lot of burnt oranges and lime greens _and_ a lot of wood panelling and browns. My dad re-did his dining room in red velvet patterned wall paper.

Resin yes, metal sometimes, styrene never.

Same in Canada - not a problem as long as there are enough seats.
