I used to spend a lot of time on Twitter as patman23, but Elon Musk turned it into the proverbial Nazi Bar. I used to blog a lot about Game of Thrones, but that's just sad to bring up, I feel. (I'm happy to talk about Game of Thrones though, pleasantly.)

I appreciate this nephew, but I wasn't seriously busting on you. It's fine.

I know! He had the option to remain silent.

You are forbidden from watching it now!

By now, everyone has watched the trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and seen plenty of trailer breakdowns on YouTube, but my dad doesn't watch YouTube, so I always do a screenshot breakdown for him for these types of shows, on my blog.
The Dad-Focused Breakdown for the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Trailer
Thursday, October 10th 2025, HBO released the trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, an adaptation of The Hedge Knight, the first of three (so far) novellas about a lowborn hedge knight named …

If a drug cost $200 now , how much would it cost after the price goes down 2000%? Just want to know.

Trump: "Drug prices are going to be going down 100%, 400%, 600%, 1,000% in some cases."

Alright, 87 screenshots. I'll write up something for my dad this weekend on the blog. (It'll be non-spoilery. Mostly.)

OUCH. (We recognize the spiky bits on the approaching rider's helmet.)
Point of View from the inside of a helmet, looking out the eye slit. A knight with a helmet that is stylized like a dragon is approaching, swinging a flail - one of those spiked balls on the end of a chain. Point of view is looking out the eyeslit of a jousting helmet. The spiky ball end of a flail is about to impact the helmet. Ouch.

Egg got that sword out of the stone just in time.

Merlin: Wait, what?
A young bald boy running carrying a sword almost as big as he is.

Not only are the production values in this trailer good, but the production values of Dornish puppet shows during this time are WILDLY GREAT! 5 stars.
Pic from the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Trailer. It's a puppet show, with a HUGE dragon puppet. The Dragon is on the right of the shot, a man is crouching behind a shield in the left of the shot. The dragon is spraying a liquid that is catching fire because a puppeteer ninja is holding a torch up to ignite the liquid.

If that guy blows that horn three times, he'll summon the Others.
A guy with a horn (an actual bovine's horn, hollowed out) blowing it as part of a ceremony at a joust. A pic from the first episode of Game of Thrones, with one of the Others (the White Walkers) mostly in shadow with glowing blue eyes, carrying a blade and a severed head.

The trailer had a nice symmetry, with our handsome main character putting on his helmet, and this chad doing likewise.
Knight with helmet in his hands. Knight putting helmet on his head with both hands. Knight with ominous dark scaly armor. He's not wearing a helmet, his hair is silver-white. Knight placing a helmet on his head, the helmet is stylized like it is a dragon's head, with spiky scales as a decoration on the top of the head.

"Well, how ya like them apples?!?"
Pic is a screenshot from the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms trailer. A young man with a red apple Fossaway shield is being kicked through a fence by his opponent, who is wearing the same livery colors.

I'm going to have to make sure my TV settings are calibrated for some dark environments.
Picture is from the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms trailer. It's an indoor scene at night, of some fancy nobles up on a dais that is poorly lit via candles.

The final shot of the trailer - starting with this moment and following behind Dunk, is A+

The dragon has three heads, typical. But, THE DRAGON HAS TWO LEGS! YES. (There had been that whole Targaryen sigil with the dragon having 4 legs near the end of GoT and during HotD that got people spun up.)

That's one less thing for the fans to complain about.

Stannis: Fewer.
Pic is from the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms trailer, showing horseman carrying Targaryen banners - red dragons on a black background. The dragons are reminiscent of the dragon images in Game of Thrones, but stylized a bit more horizontally (mostly the wings) since the banners are long.
