You can just stop giving a fuck about everything beyond your basic survival for a while, when that helps. Just wake up every day and figure out how to eat, smile and sleep somewhere safe again. No one can stop you. You don't have to carry the world's problems every day.

Also, in looking for a way to hide the bsky verifications, I see an update has turned on a bunch of bullshit like autoplaying video. Check your settings. The company is being the adversary.

Posting fake content invalidates any claim of being a journalist.

I habitually avoid eye contact, and 90% of people are chill.
5% are convinced I'm in love
5% are convinced I'm dangerous

It took me a long time to decide this was a problem for this 10% and not me.

I visited the local National Guard Armory today. The brief encounter sent a chill down my spine.
The location is fairly small, and appears to have been a school at one time. It is nestled into some neighborhoods.
There was a closed gate at the spot the GPS took me too, I could see what looked like a group of students out front of the building. I drove around and found an open gate on another street. It is possible it was only open to let someone else out because folks were leaving as I entered and the gate closed behind me.
As I drove across the lot, I wondered if I was supposed to even have gone through there! There was a guy still standing there in front, the cars leaving were likely the group of young folks I had seen as I passed by the front earlier. The guy watched me cross the lot and park. As I approached he asked if he could help me.
I asked the guy about a public relations rep or officer, the guy asked what I needed he could help.
I told him I work in Chicago, the city is not on fire. We all have eyes of our own and can see what is happening there. I told him I live here in the community and wonder what our local guys think about the potential of being called up to march into their neighbors homes.
The man told me to get back in the car and leave.
I asked if there was someone that would speak with a neighbor.
He told me no.
I told him I am a marine and am well aware of protocol for questions from the public.
He said that does not matter to him.
I am no martyr, I got all the info I needed from that dude. I left before he decided to shoot me in the face..
