Found Roofman to be an odd movie. Given that it was based on a true story, I felt a bit uneasy as the story went on. Can’t say why without spoilers but I’m assuming I won’t be the only one to feel it.
It was fine. Helped by a very good cast.
Will check that out
Enjoyed Frankenstein. it’s not up there with Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water but it’s still a Del Toro movie so demands to be watched.
It’s visually beautiful and very romanticised.
Main complaint is that it was slow in bits and I think some stuff could have been shaved off.
BBC need to release a ‘Faithful’ cut of The Traitors. No telling us who the traitors are. No bell tower scenes. Have all the traitors’ voxpops be as if they were faithfuls. Show us how hard it is to find the fuckers.
Not finished episode yet but Celebrity Traitors is driving me mental.
Does them all knowing each other make it more difficult to see what’s right in front of them.
Fucking hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had fun with Good Fortune tonight. The social commentary isn’t subtle but it’s a message that I agree with so no issue with that.
Keanu was the MVP.
Didn’t belly laugh but chuckled throughout.
I thought ‘After The Hunt’ was nothing more than alright.
Its ambiguity was interesting but I felt the pacing was off. Or at least it was for me.
America First?
Q: What do you have to say to farmers who feel that the deal is benefitting Argentina more than it is them?

TRUMP: Look, Argentina is fighting for its life, young lady. You don't know anything about it. You understand what that means? They are dying
Really enjoyed ‘One Battle After Another’. Definitely in my top 5 for the year.
Wife wasn’t as keen, though she did admit it was a good movie. Just not for her.
I see Amazon continue to make the Comixology store even worse than it was the last time they meddled.
Couldn’t seem to find pre-orders today.
Had to stop buying physical decades ago.
Didn’t hate Tron: Ares. There’s not a lot of plot but the soundtrack by NIN is tremendous and some of the visuals are beautiful.
Preferred this one to Legacy.
Can we start calling MAGA Christians ‘Ians’ from now on. There’s no Christ (or at least the one I was taught growing up) in anything that they do.
I’d say the same for evangelicals but I think they are essentially one and the same.
Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”
Don’t think many folk will be mourning the death of Ian Watkins this morning. A sick monster.
Finally watched KPop Demon Hunters. Surprisingly good. Took going to sleep to finally get that earworm at the end out my head.
Wife beat me at Can’t Stop today. I had two columns (7&11) but she had good control on the 6, 8 and 10 and won with those.
Turned out caution won the day. I busted way too many times as she gradually crept up the columns.
Such a fun wee game.
Haven’t been in a church for a long time but this isn’t the Christianity I was brought up with. Not by a long shot.
Clear to see that the morale of The Good Samaritan is totally lost on these ‘Christians’.
The right-wing Christianity appears to be a form of Christianity that is entirely devoid of Christ.
Leavitt: "When an illegal alien goes to the emergency room, who's paying for it? The American taxpayer."
8 movies in September.
Worst to best:
The Roses
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
Life of Chuck
A Big Bold Beautiful Adventure
Toxic Avenger
The Long Walk
Caught Stealing
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues
Are the press going to call it fascism yet?
When will they actually start to speak out about this?
He’s already shown that this isn’t just rhetoric.
It’s like nobody read a fucking history book…
Really enjoyed the new Spinal Tap movie. Feared it would be nothing but a cynical sellout of a movie but it was really pretty funny.
Wife also loved it and she was a bit meh on the original (though loved the other Guest improv movies).
Caught Stealing was a ride. Been hot and cold on Aronofsky but this is definitely his most fun movie.
Pretty violent and paints a picture of a largely lawless New York (in the late 90s).
Would recommend.
Nowhere near Nov 5th and I can hear fireworks (and it’s not even dark). I feel like our cats are going to have a rough spooky season this year.
Hoping to catch Caught Stealing today if wife is feeling up to it.
Spinal Tap on Tuesday. One Battle After Another later in the week.
Also need to keep an eye out for any more tours they decide to do. Missed the Glasgow date this month.
