Omg the first 10 minutes is Cuomo ranting against rando online anti-Israel hypocrites (of which there are many) and Bremmer repeatedly trying to steer the convo to the words of people who actually matter. But Cuomo can’t let go.
Chris is one online dude.

😕
I don't know what you mean, comparing this with Trump. (I didn't underestimate the danger if he was re-elected.)
Press Club has its logistical logic, including not too many ppl in a row saying similar things. Withdrawing an invite (as opposed to not inviting) is not a good look though.

Storm, teacup, in.
I gather this Chris guy is a Pilgerlike figure in certain quarters?

The screenshot claims it actually made a profit for the govt, not just the economy. Nothing about that in the link; deets would be nice.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Unsurprisingly he seems more more popular with the grunts than with the brass.

Trump, speaking to the Navy: "I was president in 2016, and then they rigged the election on me. And then we caught them, didn't we? We caught them."

The #Newspoll federal poll was taken between 29 September - 2 October 2025, sample of 1264, online survey. Here is the table graphic as it appears on page 4 of The Australian, 6 October, including voting, leader approval ratings, better Prime Minister, and a question on house prices. #auspol

A (simulated) win is a win. :-)
(I plan to make a program into which I can enter any primary vote swings and spit out seat results. It will be nightmarish after redistributions, but I’ll cross that bridge …)

How expensive should university education be and who should pay for it? The map is taken from this excellent video discussing the future of university education: buff.ly/gjiYZGl

Good on you for spending less time online my dear young people!

& assuming 2025 pref flows from major party voters ....

Lib take Ryan from Grn
Lib take Bradfield, Curtin & Kooyong from Ind
Inds take Bean & Fremantle from ALP
So, result is:
ALP on 74
L/NP 61
Grn 4
Inds 9
KAP 1
CA 1

Any comments, corrections, @kevinbonham.bsky.social @benraue.com anyone?

Imagine no redistributions from now to next fed election, then a uniform 5.2% primary vote swing from ALP to L/NP (& all other votes remain the same)
So national 2pp is 50-50
On pendulum: L/NP gains 14 seats from ALP
Also, on crossbench:
Grn take Griffith, Brisbane, Richmond, Macnamara from ALP

Tks for reading! By "we", who do you mean? If it's legislated, then it happens. (I don't expect it to happen btw, such a big change for the parties.)
peterbrent.bsky.social
We do need citizen %s tho, as non citizen residents, apart from those from Commonwealth countries, can’t vote in UK national elections.
peterbrent.bsky.social
Good point.

(ChatGPT estimates UK citizens about 17% born o/s; Oz citizens born o/s, yes, at ~30%.)
paddyboomsticks.bsky.social
Peter one other factor you didn't mention is the relative proportion of immigrants. I think something like ~30% of Australians were born overseas - compared to ~10% in UK for example. I think that + compulsory voting puts the brakes on widespread nativism.

🚨 NEW: Australian attitudes towards immigration are virtually unchanged from last year, according to a new poll from Essential, with voters divided on whether it is "generally positive" or "generally negative"

No, I don't either, but in the case of some people, mostly older, it seems to be part of online radicalisation.

And he allows for Thorpe in Greens Senate number but not Cox.

SMH at least has belatedly fixed that 1984 year.

George is silly, but in this case he reckons James McGrath explained the maths to him - which sounds about right.

There seems more to it, eg Martina Navratilova is full-on.🤷
peterbrent.bsky.social
The obsession with a hypothetical involving a tiny proportion of the population is the crazy thing.
Also I reckon most women in Oz or UK would not care if they found themselves sharing a bathroom with a trans woman. It would depend on the behaviour, of course..

Guy makes fair points, arrest was OTT, but also he does seem to have gone troppo.🤪

Australia pretty much the same as UK.
Contrast with all the American “new world” countries, settled/colonised/conquered centuries earlier when Europeans still believed in hobgoblins, burned witches etc.

On the street, it's got a dozen names. Some call 'em White Devils. Simple, classic. Some cats call 'em The Levelers, 'cause they take you from a 10 on the pain scale down to a zero. Smooths you right out. You call it Tylenol. I call it death.
