I really need to find my Orc team to show you. OMG, I think they were painted 35 years ago!
Do you have photos of the alt art boosters you're missing?
You had the color one. So fancy.
Hah! If only I could solely take the blame for that wee nightmare realm. Quite a bit of the codification was being set by John Tynes before I arrived, but I did help it to flourish. 😁
It often eludes me that because you've worked on Magic's story, it means we've worked on the same project, albeit 25+ years apart.
Before shipping the Antiquities paintings to WotC, I made color photocopies in case something happened to them in transit.

A friend showed up at my studio later that afternoon, glanced at Rocket Launcher and said “Why’d you paint a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?”

I’ve never been able to unsee it.
A few people found it. The face is carved into a rocky outcropping at one of the entrances to the town. The idea came as a way to incorporate the concept seen in Graven Cairns.
Btw, did you ever spot the Baron’s face I hid in that Dark Barony painting?
And if they do return, I worry that they won’t ask me to paint the Baron. He still means a lot to me, the great loomy monster that he is.

I'm beginning to worry we are never going to return to Ulgrotha.
Hmm.

Anyway, do it if it’s what makes you happy. I’m sure the side-eye won’t be any more than usual for your lock screens.
Fun fact: WotC’s scheduling was thrown into chaos by the runaway success of MtG, so they found themselves assigning art for Antiquities, Legends, and the Dark simultaneously.

I had 2-3 weeks to get my Antiquities pieces in the mail, and then I could settle into all the black cards I had in Legends

I’ve never heard of the thing and expect it’s going to be mostly supposition and extrapolation. Also, I can assure you that all the documentation for Magic’s backstory was written on computers from 1994 onwards. It probably always was, but I witnessed it in 94.
That's certainly always been my plan.
Oh yeah, me too. Dragons-a-go-go, what’s not to love?!
Let me know how it performs. If the fingers can be pushed into unreasonable positions then I see its only value is for improving foreshortening.
Hey, I'm actually visiting ECCC. Maybe I can pop by and you won't have to explain much to me!

Psst. Hey. Hey you. A new Gothic Charm School article will be published tomorrow!
Thanks, that balance fought me continually until it finally clicked. One of the things that helped is the warm shadows in the leftmost billows of sand at the portal.
