Man that did look pretty bad by AJ. I’m starting to get tired of the AJ experience. Incredible player for us for a few years. But it might be time to go.

Mailata looked so depressed that a penalty was called. He knew what was about to happen.

At least the CB got to live. He has a family.

The Za'Darius Smith acquisition seems it may not pan out. Vs the Giants he moved almost like a DT out there. And in some of his best plays so far with us this season, he was largely a beneficiary of other players' strong play around him.

This truck toss would have likely worked Broncos game if they did not have a false start. Given all the plays that are meh that they run several times per game, can't understand why we don't get a few more toss plays for both OZ and truck.

This feels like what my understanding of truck is.

It’s a weakness with Vic. Even at times when he had special pass rush designs in this game for a mobile QB, they were less than stellar. I have to look at the snaps more later today. But earlier in the game it felt just like u said.

Fangio, and most NFL DC's, are not good at limiting QB scramble. The league has not yet properly adapted to the modern mobile QB.

But on this play, It's partially Baun's fault underestimating Dart. Baun sags back to take away short crossers thinking he could just rally up if the QB escaped.

For example, that QB run they would do (not this season sadly) where the LG would down on a 2i, the C would wrap around, and the QB would follow the C through the B gap when the D was expecting pass…

…i noticed they modified it last year at times, likely because Jurgy couldn’t pull it off well.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
It’s weird because Steen can turn a 3tech out of a gap that Saquon fully intends to run behind and has with success this year.

But asking Steen to pull on a simple counter run, he struggles so much. It’s not a dexterity thing usually. It’s more that he tries to destroy a dude when he can’t.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Pulling is an easier job for Jurgy than what they were asking him to do on OZ before this past week. So they were more guilty of overrating what Jurgy and the LG could do on that play.

On other pulls, I do think they consider Jurgy more limited than in past. For a long time now.

The schematic wrinkles are sometimes about beating someone on the whiteboard. But more importantly it’s about giving guys jobs that they can handle. There were two runs of O and 3 yards where they were predictable. But if they ran it to Steen instead of Toth would have prob averaged 4 ypc on them.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Predictability is definitely an issue. But that’s been beaten to death by media. So I was more interested in delving into schematic wrinkles that are going awry in the run game. Which has been a huge problem. And it gets very little analysis/coverage.

My best guess is the run game will continue to improve but not get where we want it to be unless Dickerson regains ‘24 form. It’s a little depressing, because it’s so much easier to fix than passing game, yet progress is slow. The A gaps are a whole lot more cloudy for Barkley w/Landon not himself.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
It’s happening too slowly. But their running game has been gradually improving the past few weeks. I’m Trying to retain some hope/solace that it will continue.

Man Kelce was special. End of his career and he’s moving like that.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Yup we said the same thing to each other in our exchange about it. I was like, “pretty sure they used to do it with Kelce”

The way they were doing it prior to this play was not sustainable with their current personnel.

I know they didn’t steal it from us. Was kidding.

Some of the time yes on first part
All of the time yes on the 2nd part
Hang in there
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Ok he’s either in need of intervention

Or

He is a good outside the box thinker, because the rain will wash away whatever he brings up in the power wash.

Maybe you should still check on him though
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Congrats. I like the competitive nature of ur QB, and that your team didn’t quit. Man for your sake he’s got to stop taking some of those hits. I used to say that with early Wentz. He never learned and it largely derailed his career.

Stout. Vic. Hurts. McKee. Howie.

The 5 most valuable people in the organization, IMO. Just none of them perfect.

All with a few proclivities that I’ve noticed years ago that sometimes need to be held in check.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Kind of insane that one of the superpowers of the Hurts era just vanished for no good reason.

The opposition is expecting pass? Great. Block the 2i and let her pick up a cheap 10 yards.

Extremely simple. Extremely effective. Vanished.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Instead of wasting time with Pryor and Kinnard at OT, I wonder if they could have spent more time at LG. They both seem better at G.

I think they identified Toth early as who they wanted.

I’d have less of an issue w/it if they were smarter about calling plays he can execute.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Broncos. Analysis good, names bad. I call my wife my daughter’s name. She loves that. It’s genetic. Grandpa used to call me Oliver, his dog’s name.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Is Toth useless? No. He can do stuff.
Is he a serviceable backup? Sure
Can he block a 3tech in a play designed to go off his ass without help? No. We already know this. Why even try?
Was going into the season with him as top backup best plan? Anyone with an ounce of common sense knew it wasn’t.
phillywannabgm.bsky.social
Sorry to beat a dead horse. But why the hell would one run behind Toth on anything where he's expected to drive a DT out of his gap? Does Stout have a daughter he is dating or something? Does Patullo not realize that calling certain run plays needs to take OLine talent into the equation?
