Somebody get me some eggs quick….
A fitting punishment for the jerk(s) who egged The Eagles Kevin Pattullo's house is to make them the offensive coordinator for a month and see how brilliant they are at the job. Maybe they wouldn't be so stupid after that.

We only have two completions on last year's version of mesh this season, both designed for Calcaterra of all people. One went for 16 yds. Last completion vs Bucs.

We only have one successful completion all year in the version of mesh we saw vs Bears. Several weeks ago, to Slim.
I don't watch the passing game in detail every game. But judging by Bears game, we ran mesh much better last year than this one. 5 example thread. No volume.

Look at the interference the two TE's provide for Slim. Look at the smart use of motion to help Slim get freed up.

I can't remember the last time this season that Calcaterra caught a pass off a hot route. I always forget the difference b/w hot and site adjustment. But basically, he sees someone is going and that he's uncovered. He turns around open. Hurts knows he's going to do this pre-snap if he's hot.

AAAAnnnnnndddd.....this is partially why Byron Young cannot be DT4. Because now.....he's DT3. That not ok. That's very much not ok.

That should have been addressed before the trade deadline. And other DTs on roster and PS should have at least gotten more snaps.

This is where AJ does his best. He is not a deep ball threat. He is good at slants, but no longer a master. Throw a 20-30 yd back shoulder on a rope and let him box someone out, low RZ, intermediate dig from outside # s. Occasional Mesh where he usually sets pick. Occasional slant. He's WR2.

3rd and 9. Still not hots vs the blitz, but they at least realize the situation, max protect, and dial up Slim beyond the sticks.
December 4, 2025 at 5:44 PM
Another 3rd down 2 yard drag wAJ as primary.
This one is at least a decently designed mesh for the 1st time all game.

But even if Hurts throws this to AJ with near perfect timing, it is 4 yards short of the stix with a waiting overhang who can probably make the tackle.
December 4, 2025 at 5:06 PM
AJ doesn't come open on the primary (5 yard slant) until > 1.5 seconds and has to get away with an obvious push off in order to do it.

Hurts choosed to dump it off. Too many of our route combos are slow.

Oh they finally ran a snap of pony. Hold onto your hats folks, this might be excit.....uggh. A throw to the flats who everyone on the D is watching that would have been more likely to be open with Yac potential on a simple slant/flat.

BTW, where did slant/arrow go in this year's offense?
December 4, 2025 at 4:33 PM
Ah another 1 yard drag route. This is what play action was designed for? This is what we endured those shitty run designs for? 5 outside zones for this? Is a 12-year-old designing this? Are they forcing balls to AJ to keep him happy?
December 4, 2025 at 4:22 PM
It was 3rd and 9. I see two clear outs, no hots, Goedert trying to set a pick on air for a 1 yard drag route to AJ. And he's not looking back at the QB even though his DB blitzed until he gets to the 2nd hash mark.

Even if this is 3rd and 3, AJ isn't a threat on drags anymore!
3rd and 9. Blitz. No hot routes. No rub routes for Goedert to get open on the crosser.

Just one year ago we won a couple games due to well schemed crossers/mesh. KP and Siri were here for that. They should remember. Where did it go?

I don't often watch pass attempts from Eagles games. I like D+run game. I started vs Bears and had to stop early out of disgust.

1) Siri can NEVER hire internally
2) If Siri stays, they need to find an old head OC who teams won't steal

This situation was predictable and avoidable.

Geez

I wonder why

What changed in the past year

GM's and decision makers just make decisions in football off of vibes sometimes. How do you give Slay 10 mil of cap when:

1) You intend to use him as a zone corner

and

2) He is 34 y/o

Eagles annoy and upset me as a fan sometimes. But dear God what are the Steelers doing lately?

I just watched all of Slay's 3rd down coverage reps. I haven't watched early downs.

I would definitely sign him. How good or bad he looks on those early downs would be part of my equation on how much I would pay. He lost another half step. But he's being misused in with Steelers.

Will Shipley, an above average receiving RB, who probably runs better routes than Gainwell, only has 5 receptions on the season.

Gainwell with us the last 4 seasons:

33, 33, 30, 16 And in the "16" year added 75 rush attempts.

At home vs horrible run D+windy conditions:

Barkley 13, Tank 0 runs
1 QB counter 3yds
2 QB draw 29yds
1 completion RPO 10 yds
0 Read option runs
1 short crosser w/rubs 3yds
2 quick game 2yds
2 slants

>50% passing yards 6 min left down multiple scores
