I forgot how deeply Mae’s talk about ‘shapes’ resonates with me. During my early days in therapy I think I described it as ‘flat’; me, people, the world. Like a play or movie.

I didn’t know that it was trauma-based dissociation that I had, since childhood, (and to this day, though it’s better).

Russula rhodocephala, the Redhead Russula, is likely what this is. There are so many Russula species. I'm almost never 100% sure!

A large and beautiful pinkish-red mushroom grows out of a thick bed of pine needles. Its stipe and cap are the same pretty color. The gills are slightly separated and appear almost page-like, which is common for Russula species, as far as I've observed.
