To claim to become PM with 20 seats out of a few hundreds, without making a coalition, is exactly the strategy of most parties in France at the moment 😅
pierrealquier.bsky.social
It seems so :)

But Tamaki's statement is hard to understand. His party has 27 seats, he says "I'm ready to be prime minister" but he rejects coalitions not only with LDP (196 seats) but also CDP (148 seats) and discusses only with Komeito (24 seats). He needs to learn basic calculus?

What I'm shocked by is that, in France, no party currently has even half the weight of CDP in Japan, and yet, no party is ready to make any concessions. That, I give my opinion on: guys, when you have 10% of the seats in the parliament, you can't make a coalition where you decide everything 🫥
pierrealquier.bsky.social
Note: this is not a judgement on the policies proposed by these parties. I have my opinions and I am certainly shocked by Takaichi's xenophobic views, but I'm not a Japanese voter, so I will keep my probably insufficiently informed views for myself.
pierrealquier.bsky.social
Interesting. The CDP (148 seats) offering to support the candidate of the DPFP (only 27) to avoid a prime minister (Sanae Takaichi) they both absolutely don't want is exactly what all parties in France are currently incapable of: putting the country before the party.

Thanks, but unfortunately, I already registered for a workshop in Marseille at that time. At @cirm-math.bsky.social

I won't miss the bouillabaisse.

But hopefully in 2026!

I should attend more conferences in Australia 😅

Haha true. For some reason, these swallows always look "angry". However, I read swallows are faithful partners, they keep the same partner for life 😊
