My suggestion would be indie animation as the umbrella term and then studio animation and solo animation as the more specific terms.

You can also smush the words together. Instead of indie animation:

Indie studimation or indie solomation lol

I think we should come up with a term to differentiate indie animation that's made by a small startup company vs indie animation made by one guy with a dayjob and a small youtube channel. And then we can stop comparing the two unfavorably
