My daughter volunteers at our local SPCA. She says all the shelters are full and you need to go get yourself a cat. Maybe two. They need a friend.

Before we had our dog put down last month, I had sworn up and down that she was the first and last dog I'd ever have. So of course I'm already looking at rescues on Petfinder. Big ol' hypocrite, that's me.
